10:00 am Alfie Rebuilt: A Fully Multiplexed Command Pathway & ESTOP!

He's finally back together and all systems integrated and tested — and opened up some exciting new possibilities with the ROS2 framework.  Why not have Alfie support multiple command sources at the same time?  It seems silly to have one stack for training, and another for gr00t, and yet another for the chat and agent interfaces.

I'll walk you through the system re-architecture behind the answer: a multiplexed command path that arbitrates by source priority, letting all four command streams run simultaneously without stepping on each other. Sitting above all of it is an e-stop trigger at the highest priority level, which — the theory goes — keeps Alfie from doing anything dumb. (Alan)

11:00 am Train It, Then Race It: Building Autonomous Robot Cars from Scratch​!

Join us this Saturday as Joah walks us through his robot racers — the full arc from never having touched a microcontroller to running a neural network on a car that actually drives. He'll cover the build, the lessons learned, plus a look ahead at the racer he's designing for November's competition.

Then we race! Thanks to a new sponsorship from PCBWay, Noah will have a fleet of robots on hand — ideally one per in-person attendee — so you'll get to train a car and put it on the track yourself. Roughly 40 minutes of discussion, then 15–20 minutes hands-on. He's also working on a way for virtual members to get in on the driving. (Joah)

12:30 pm: Announcements / Show-n-Tell / Open Session. It's a great opportunity to ask questions and get advice. Our members will bring in their projects and share what we've been up to. Are you working on something? Bring it in!
