Speaker: Dr. Alan Federman (Dr. Bot)

    Presentation: In 1999, I began mentoring a FIRST Robotics team at a continuation high school in East San Jose. That year, the team finished 192nd out of 200 teams competing nationwide. Just one year later, they led the alliance that won the national championship. Now I'll tell you the rest of the story.

    It's a story about mastering technology, building an exceptional team, and benefiting from a bit of luck along the way. Most of all, it's about three principles that I believe are the keys to success — not only in robotics, but in life: Passion, Planning, and Perseverance.

    Join us as Alan shares the remarkable journey behind "The Big Blue Banner" and the lessons learned from one of FIRST Robotics' most inspiring turnaround stories.
