Dear all,

I have two postdoctoral research or senior researcher positions in machine learning in Great Bay University.

Current topics of interest in my group include diffusion generative models, Schroedinger bridge based methods for generative learning, neural differential equations, optimal transport for machine learning, causal inference for event sequences, spatial and temporal point, Bayesian modelling and Bayesian deep learning.

Application deadline: 31 August 2024

Start date: 01 October 2024 or later

Requirements

We are looking for candidates who have finished, or are about to complete, an excellent PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, or a related discipline. You should have demonstrated your research expertise through high-quality publications.

You must be proficient in English (spoken and written).

About the group

The establishment of the Great Bay University (GBU) (https://www.gbu.edu.cn/?lang=en) is a major strategic initiative under the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. GBU aims to serve the whole of China and extend its influence globally. We focus primarily on science and engineering subjects, striving to become a new type of research university that meets international standards, embraces openness and inclusiveness, and features distinctive regional characteristics. GBU is dedicated to leading future developments in science and technology, industrial upgrades, and social progress. Robust academic foundation, broad horizon, unity of knowing and doing, and integration of disciplines are the goals that GBU pursues. With a focus on six directions, i.e. physical sciences, advanced engineering, life sciences, information science technology, sciences, and finance management, GBU is committed to nurturing high-level innovative talents with creative thinking, a global view, patriotism, and the abilities to learn for life, tackle complex problems and innovate in practice.

Dr. Sikun Yang is an Assistant Professor at Computer Science, Great Bay University. His research develops probabilistic machine learning models and algorithms to solve problems arising in computational social science and natural sciences. Dr. Yang recently moved from The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen where he was a research scientist, working with Prof. Hongyuan Zha, Prof. Chris H.Q. Ding, and Prof. Mingyuan Zhou (UT Austin) on generative models with continuous-time processes and optimal transport. Dr. Yang received his PhD in ETIT from TU Darmstadt in 2019 under the guidance of Prof. Heinz Koeppl.

The research group led by Dr. Sikun Yang currently has one doctor students, three master students, and several visiting students and research assistants from top universities in China.

How to apply

Please submit your application by email to siku...@gbu.edu.cn and include a single PDF file with the following information:

  1. a statement of research interests that motivates why you are applying for this position and outlines your research agenda;
  2. a full CV including your list of publications;
