Application open for StatML CDT

Applications are now open for the StatML Centre for Doctoral Training – a four-year cohort-focused PhD/DPhil programme in statistics and machine learning, jointly run by Imperial College London and the University of Oxford. 

StatML offers an inclusive, diverse and vibrant environment for research, training and collaboration at two of the world’s foremost institutions.  

We’re also pleased to share that StatML has been selected by EPSRC to take part in the new UK Government TechExpert pilot – an initiative to broaden and diversify UK-domiciled talent entering doctoral training in technology fields. Under this pilot, we expect Home students in the 2026 cohort to receive a stipend of around £31,000 per year for four years. We strongly encourage applications from under-represented groups and continue to welcome applications from Overseas students. 

Our applications deadline is 8th January 2026.
