Hi all,

I am sharing news of the next UCL Center for Data Science symposium (co-organised by the UCL ELLIS unit), which will take place on the Thursday 5th December at the London Mathematical Society. The event will be on the topic of “Computational Statistics and Machine Learning in the Sciences” and take place from 1-7pm. It will include a series of talks in the afternoon and a reception from 6-7pm.

The event will have a number of speakers from across UCL, including: Sam Livingstone (Statistical Science) Harita Dellaporta (soon-to-be Statistical Science), Jason McEwen (Mullard Space Science Laboratory), Niall Jeffrey (Physics & Astronomy), Marta Betcke (Computer Science), Ziheng Yang (Genetics, Evolution and Environment).

The talks will cover a range of methodological topics including Monte Carlo methods, normalising flows, simulation-based inference and robust optimisation, and will also touch on applications ranging from genetics to cosmology.

In order to register your attendance please use the following link. Please only do so if you know you will be able to attend as the number of places is limited.

Best wishes,

Francois-Xavier Briol
