I've always thought that RSS had a role to play as an alternative to the bloated HL7. For example, monitoring bed status by giving every bed in a hospital an IP address, a fractional horse power server and an RSS feed. I'm not technical though, and of course there are concerns about data privacy. Just my $1/1p worth
