Dear all,

is there a possibility to remove not only the clouds, but also the cloud-shadows with ARCSI? What does the Option "-p TOPOSHADOW" do?
Is there any documentation regarding this subject?

Thanks in advance!
Silke

Am I correct to assume that ARCSI uses the FMask algorithm, which should find cloudshadows (and snow) in addition to clouds?

Dear Silke,

Sorry for my slow reply. The implementation of FMASK in ARCSI is my own implementation but it is not yet fully complete at the cloud shadows component has not yet been implemented. I have a contract to develop ARCSI further over the coming months but it will be May when I look at the cloud shadow implementation.

With regards to TOPOSHADOW that uses a ray tracing algorithm and a DEM to identify areas which are in deep shadow within the image (based on the solar azimuth and zenith of the image capture). These areas would not be recoverable via a topographic correction routine as there is no direct light illuminating these regions.

I hope that helps, if you keep an eye on https://bitbucket.org/petebunting/arcsi/commits/all you will be able to see when I make further improvements to the cloud masking.

Best wishes

Pete
