why the shepherd segmentation does not differenciate water classes

I have some PALSAR images with uplands and water of an Amazonian basin, I can segment this in eCognition, but Shepherd Segmentation just recognize uplands and flooded forests, and all waterbecames just one polygon, but I want to classify things in water, what is happening? I tested many combinations of shepherd parameters, and nothing.

Hi Angelica, 

Can you share the image? Without seeing the image I am not sure. However, bare in mind that the shepherd algorithm will allow large continuous objects while eCognition will try to avoid objects being significantly different in terms of size.
