Hi All...
I was selected in the Indian Academy of Science (I.A.S.) Summer
Research Fellowship programme and got the wonderful opportunity to
work under Prof.T.P.Singh, a Distinguished Biotechnologist, at
Biophysics Department, AIIMS, New Delhi. It was 8 weeks programme and
I was the part of the Institute during May-June, 2009.

This department is specifically devoted to Protein Structures
(especially their Determination through X-Ray Crystallography). It has
got a Wet Lab and Dry Labs which are equipped with all the essential
facilities, softwares etc. T.P.Singh Sir is really a great person and
it's my honor to have worked under him, though for a very short period
of time. He is a man of great character, a champion of Accuracy and a
paradigm of profound knowledge. He is leading the country in "Protein
Structure Determination". His lab has produced, and is continuiung,
maximum number of Protein Structures and deposited in the Protein
Structure Database, PDB.

Selection for the Summer Fellowship is quite complex and tedious too.
One has to fill up an online form mentioning the Undergrad marks
achieved so far and several other details. It's better to visit
I.A.S.website for further information.

I.A.S. bore all the boarding and lodging charges in the form of
Rs/-5000 p.m. during the programme so I did not had to pay anything
from my Dad's pocket.

Environment is congenial and the people working in these labs are
loving and caring. One would never miss his home and friends and
that's for sure. A rare opportunity with a rarer interest and even the
rarest of "The Professor" to work under, I would recommend all those
zealots of proteins to be a part of this of this esteemed institute.

For more information about all these good people at the department,
their achievements, their current work of pursue visit http://tapss.org.in/

My Best Wishes to all those Enthusiastic but Confused and Wandering
Souls!!!
