Summer Training @ IOCB BANGALORE

Hi All

I did my summer training at IOCB Bangalore. It was a very good
experience there. I enroll into IOCB as a student for a short term (4
weeks) course regarding "Molecular Modelling and Drug designing".
There they taught me about various tools and databases commonly used
in Chemo-Informatics. There course was very informative and covered
almost all the aspects of the basic drug designing. The fee for the
whole course was RS. 6000 but fortunately I was given a chance to work
with them into a project. In this project my role was to develop a Web
based database program to hold there large research data. As a result
of this I was fully exempted form the course fee.

Coming to; "How to enroll into IOCB?" One can check their website
{www.iocbindia.org} for the various courses of his interest and can
apply for the same. People at IOCB are very cooperative and if you are
really skilled then you can have a chance to join there projects and
earn some scholarship.

I recommend IOCB to one, who is seeking some good short term courses
in basic Bioinformatics or Chemo-Informatics.

thank u gourav.... i have a question..... what is the procedure to join the iocb.... and coming year my dissertation work period 6 months... did they allowed for this period...?

My experience with IOCB is just the opposite. I had enrolled for Diploma in Clinical Research and data mangement which was a distance learning course neither the webex sessions were that good. After giving the exam and securing Agrade I still havent got my certificate and lost my course money.. Pathetic administration. They dont respond to my phone calls either and since Im from Mumbai I cannot visit their Bangalore office.
