to RSG-India - Internship/Project reviews
Hello all,
I am Sneha.
First of all im glad that RSG has taken a good initiative by setting
up this forum, where students can share their experiences through a
common window.
So i would like to thank the RSG team for making this possible.
My experience:
I am currently pursuing my second year MSc.Clinical Research and i did
my summer project at Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences-'NIMS' as
it is called at Hyderabad from march 16-February 12, 2009.
The genesis of NIMS dates back to the year 1961 and the foundation was
laid by Sri Jawaharlal Nehru the first Prime Minister of India. It is
recognised by the University Grants Commission and Medical council Of
India and to be part of such a prestigious Institution was a wonderful
experience.
I carried out my observational studies for a period of 25 days at the
Dept. of Clinical Pharmacology and therapeutics (CPMR).
I personally knew the Dean of Department Of CPMR so it was easy to
sneak in,otherwise they charge for carrying out project work at the
Institute.
Since it is a Govt sponsored organisation one would get to see and
learn a lot at academic as well as personal level. The faculty and
Staff at CPMR were very patient enough to explain things and clarify
doubts.
Some of them were kind enough to let me attend a workshop on Clinical
Research which was sponsored by the Dept.Biotechnology India(DBT) for
a period of 11days at the Institute where they thoroughly guided me
and gave me chance to make a presentation and sharpen my skills.
Overall it would be worth the experience carrying out research,
observational studies or summer projects at a premier institute as
NIMS.
I am optimistic that my article was worth enough to read and hoping
someone would benefit from it.
With best wishes.
Sneha.
