Zuken provides a free CADSTAR design viewer here: -viewer/ (Windows only, and need an email address to download). There are several *.cpa design files freely available on the internet. An advanced search Github shows a few of them: =cadstarpcb+"format+layout"+extension%3Acpa&type=Code&ref=advsearch&l=&l= ( thanks @Seth_h for the tip!)
I had this exact problem, the other day, to migrate a Cadstar design into Cadence allegro, wethought a possible migration route might be through OrCAD Layout, but theproblem is once you have a cadstar.pcb file you cannot back migrate this cadstarfile to an older version i.e. (DOS .cdi) We spoke to Zuken about this and thiswas pretty much their answer, so looks like we cannot use OrCAD Layout as amigration route for modern cadstar files. The migration route we are consideringis to reverse engineer the cadstar file into Allegro. We also spoke to Cadenceabout this, they have internal translators which take cadstar.pcb files toallegro, but this would be done under their serives division and might becostly. Im wondering if anyone knows of any other routes of translation for this to be done?StephenGrant-Davies - QuantumCad

i'm fressher to this community.. i hope am posting in wright section...
i have started to learn cadstar layout ver. 7 i read the manual Do It Yourself which helps to begin the designing. but it will not covers about multilayer PCB and needed settings for that.
so i'm strucking in that stage. how i could move further. is there any other manual that helps to do settings for multi layer PCB.
i will be very thankful to your valuable guide.

...In the schematic, use the file export option but change the format to "CADSTAR Part Library" and save this into your library folder....
This would only export a single part into the exported parts lib. I did this from the PCB lib and all parts are exported and the new lib seems to add to the libraries structure without problem. ECO update from the schematic seems to work fine. All this with a grain of salt. I'm not new to sch cap / pcb des but I'm brand new to cadstar.
