It's an excellent book, that is not only useful for Mahara advocates,
but also as a nice introduction to the potential of eportfolios for
all types of learners/folios. Well done Derrin & all at TDM. Is a
very informative read.
Secondly I'd like to thank all of you in this community of practice
for contributing to a new book published by the Australian Eportfolio
Project. You have all contributed to this research project (now
published) on communities of practice for supporting eportfolios.
Thanks all - download the book and reap the benefits of your
participation.
I was interviewed last year by this Australian research group about
how our Midlands based eportfolio CoP operates. The book is in hard
back , but also available on the net for all (http://
www.eportfoliopractice.qut.edu.au/). I rarely do this (blow my own
trumpet) , but in this occasion I think it’s worth spreading the
practice of RSCs, that have influenced others globally. I helped set
up our CoP having been heavily influenced by many local to us,
especially Julie Hughes, Helen Walmsley, Emma Purnell, & Theresa
Welch. And also Ben Williams (RSC East Mids) who has also been pivotal
in pushing effective practice within our region and beyond. And this
was all kicked off as a direct result of working with Lisa Gray & Ros
Smith on the JISC ePortfolio infokit: http://www.jiscinfonet.ac.uk/infokits/e-portfolios
See Appendix 2 for reference to RSC WM, CoP & eportfolio wiki page.
Please share & promote.
p.s. Helen Chen’s EPAC CoP also features in the book. Helen & I ran a
transnational webinar in Jan this year promoting eportfolios – access
this webinar on line : http://bit.ly/work-based-folios

Hello everyone,
I am emailing you directly regarding your specific involvement in the
development of our case studies and the discussion around national and
international perspectives of CoPs. Your interviews provided a
valuable insight into the sustainability of communities of practice
and enabled us to capture the progressive activities of your CoP.
As you may already be aware the final report for the Australian
ePortfolio Project (Stage 2) has been released in hard copy. You may
have already received an email from Associate Professor Gillian Hallam
announcing the release - so apologies for the repetition.
The eBook is available on the project website http://www.eportfoliopractice.qut.edu.au/
Again, we thank you for your contribution to the project!
Best wishes
Tracy Creagh
Project Officer, AeP2
