I have been asked to see if there is any research data covering
transition of learners in HE using eportfolio tools.

the only one I have book marked is : http://escalate.ac.uk/resources/accesshe/
(2006)

Also this request is from a specialist college - so data concerning
learners with disabilities into HE is more relevant to this request.

Any data would be helpegul tho' on this subject.

Thanks in advance

ps. There's an extension now to 15th Feb to submit papers to this
summers PebblePad conf' in Shifnal.

Kevin,

Over the years I have heard numerous complaints about the lack of
transition. - Mainly from those in HE who have found that their lovingly
crafted e-Portfolio was not available to them when they had left Uni or that
it was only available to them for a limited time of one year. I have read
comments from undergraduates such as 'Why should I bother if I can't take it
with me?' etc. Similarly, when I asked FE/HE lecturers if they looked at
the e-Portfolios of their potential entrants none of them had even thought
that it was possible. That is why my solution is hosted externally to any
institution.

I wrote some time ago on this subject, see:
http://efoliointheuk.blogspot.com/2009/02/when-do-we-start-with-e-portfolio.
html

As being Special Needs qualified, I have always seen the e-Portfolio as of
particular help to students who may have added difficulties in learning or
representing themselves. I learnt much from Evangeline Steffanakis' book,
'Multiple Intelligences and Portfolios'. I believe that the simple
organisational structure of eFolio, with the opportunity for staff to
pre-scaffold their individual eFolios is well suited to such learners.

Apologies if this sounds like an advert!
