Microsoft Purchased Revolution Analytics, the owner of RRO, in January 2015.  I want to know when Microsoft is going to integrate RRO fully in to the .Net platform, just like Python, so we can Install R Tools for Visual Studio the same way you can for Python.

Hi, Alton

Firstly, I want clarify one of your statements:
  • Neither Revolution Analytics nor Microsoft "owns" RRO.  RRO is an open source project. We at Microsoft simply manage the project. Anybody is welcome to contribute or play a more active role.
OK, now to get to what I think your question is.  I think your question is "does Microsoft have any plans to provide R tools for visual studio"?

We are working on some integration of R and visual studio. This integration will allow you to write R code in the visual studio IDE.  However, it is too early to make any announcements about this.

Once we have news, we will announce it on this mailing list.
