My win 7 pro workstation has R 3.2.2 installed but it has never had any Revolution or Microsoft R product installed.   I tried to install Microsoft R and I immediately ran into a vague problem.

Immediately after "accept the terms of use agreement" page, the install window "RevoMath Installer" asks me to "Enter a path to MRO (ex. C:\MRO\R-3.2.3)"

What exactly is required at that step? I can't point to an existing MRO path because none exists.

I tried making an new, empty folder and I pointed to that but then the installer returns an error message reading "The provided directory does not appear to contain a valid installation of RRO"

Should I point to the path with my R 3.2.2 installation?  Do I need to install some version of RRO before trying to install MRO?

TIA

Hi Dave,

You must have Microsoft R Open installed to be able to install MKL. MKL installer will not work with regular CRAN R.
Also, there is a custom version of the MKL available for each version of Microsoft R Open (or previously RRO),

If you have M R Open 3.2.3 installed, then you can install the associated version of MKL from the download page. During installation of MKL for MRO 3.2.3, the setup screen has an option at the top "Use an MRO path detected by installer". Can you choose that option? If none is detected, then you need to provide the path to where you installed Microsoft R Open 3.2.3.

The instructions for RRO 3.2.2 are slightly different.

Thanks,
Josée

Thanks Josee, but my question is not about installing MKL. I am trying to install Microsoft R.

Ah! I see. I believe you have downloaded the wrong installer.

The Microsoft R Open installer file name on Windows is: MRO-3.2.3-win.exe
The installer you describe is for the MKL add-on.

Please check the filename. If it is not , then try downloading again here: https://mran.microsoft.com/download/#download

Thanks
