Dear readers,
Two "zero dollar days" in a row makes for a failing fundraiser. We
remain at $838 toward our goal of $2,083.
I'm taking a "web-only" day and using today's email and social network
editions to remonstrate ("To point out; to show clearly; to make plain
or manifest; hence, to prove; to demonstrate" -- Webster's Dictionary,
1913 edition) the condition of the freedom movement's daily newspaper
and seek your assistance in improving that condition.
Today's web edition is available at:

At present, RRND/FND's "recurring" revenues -- the monthly payments we
receive from our subscribing contributors -- come to $308.50 per
month.
When this fundraiser began, that number was $305.50, and the goal was
(as it remains) to get that number up to $1,000 per month in total
revenues.
$308.50 per month means that (before PayPal fees, before hosting
costs, before anything), I make $111.06 per month for 20-30 hours per
week of work as RRND/FND's publisher. It means that my fellow editors
make $55.53 for their two hours a day or so of work entering content.
It means that our tech support guy makes $30.85 per month on retainer
to get things back up when they go down, and make occasional site
improvements.
At $1000 per month, those numbers would be $360, $180 and $100
respectively.
As you can see, we're not trying to get rich here.
Our daily readership -- web, email, social networks, Twitter -- is
somewhere in the 5,000-10,000 range, meaning that if we could figure
out a way to bring 10-20 cents per month per reader, we'd reach our
goal of $1,000 per month.
If 10-20% of our readers were willing to return $1 per month in value
for value, we'd be there.
If 100 of our readers -- 1-2% -- were willing to pop $10 a month, we'd
be there.
Some of our wonderful readers do that, or more.
Will you become one of those readers? Will you make a one-time
contribution using the ChipIn widget now appearing at the top of each
day's web edition, or better yet become one of our subscribing
contributors at $1, $2.50, $5, $10 or $20 per month?

For nearly eight years, we've put RRND/FND on your monitor and/or in
your inbox each non-holiday weekday without fail, excepting a
scheduled one-week vacation in 2008. We're coming up on our 2000th
issue. All of us have, at one time or another, taken a pass on
opportunities to make money or to do other things we'd like to do,
because we continue to believe that RRND/FND (and before it, going
back to 1991, Libernet) is a valuable and important tool for our
fellow freedom-fighters.
Value is a subjective thing, but its expression is, for the most part,
very OBJECTIVE: Either you pay us what you think our product is worth,
or you don't. We've gone with the "honor system" on that ... and right
now I'm asking you to honor that system by participating in it.
We'll be back tomorrow with the regular email edition.
Yours in liberty,
Tom Knapp
