Holger,

We have a Maya (2017.3) scene, which has AOV's setup, and uses Redshift (2.0.88).
We have also replaced the mayaBatchRenderProcedure.mel file with the fixed version, but I do not think this problem is related.
When we submit the job, the AOV's do not show up in the Scene Information in the RR Control (see image).

I have uploaded the scene to you. Is this a problem with RR (7.0.38), or are we doing something wrong here?

Thanks.

It has nothing to do with any Autodesk script.
Our submission plugin seems to be missing a function to read the AOVs of Redshift.
I have logged a dev ticket with this issue.

The only issues should be that you cannot access the AOVs in rrControl and that the Sequence Checker will not check for broken/missing frames.

Holger Schönberger

That's good to know, that it will still render.
We are planning to upgrade to RR8 soon, but hopefully you can issue a submitter plugin fix for RR7 also.

Thanks.

Actually, I've just talked to the artist sending creating the scenes, and the AOV's are not rendering. No path's are being created, and no frames are being generated.

We are not sure if this broke with the Maya 2017 Update3, or with a recent Redshift update.

Are you able to look into this further? since we are needing to render today.

Thanks.

RR does not enable nor disable any AOVs in the scene file.
It just sets the main output image.

There is no error message in the render log?

Just to update...

We tried some new tests and for some reason the AOV's are rendering now.
No idea why the scenes we sent yesterday did not create the AOV's.

We still get the mentioned syntax errors, and the AOV's are still not showing up in RR Control.

Actually, we have another problem now. Although the frames are actually rendering, RR never finishes the job. It is not reporting back to RR that any frames are done. It shows the frames as started, but nothing ever gets done.

Just to be clear, the masterLayer is okay, and is reporting that the frames are done, but other render layers do not.

Which Redshift version do you use?
If you use 2.0.88+, then you have to edit the layer name in the rrSubmitter and remove the rs_.

We are using 2.0.88.
Thanks, we'll give that a try.

Since the AOV's are not showing up in the RR Control, is this something that has broken with a recent Redshift update?
I know we have used AOV's in the past, and not had any issues.

Hi

Have you found the issue?
I assume it is something with the render settings.
As AOVs still work with Redshift 2.0.88.

Note: The AOV tab of the Redshift render settings have never been read by the RR plugin.

No, still not been able to figure this out.
Are you saying that although the AOV's will create folders and render, they have never been displayed in RR Control under the Output File location? (like multiple Render Layer's do)

I'm getting confused :-)

Hi

No, RR has never read Redshift AOV settings, only MRay and Arnold AOV settings.
Please try to create a new scene with a cube and some AOV.

Ah, I was not aware of that, we must be confusing the Redshift AOV's with MRay AOV's that we have done in the past.

Do you think that reading the Redshift AOV settings will be added to RR at some point?

Already logged as dev ticket.
#6160 Maya: Redshift: AOV outputs are not read
But still: the only disadvantage is that RR does not check for broken frames and they are not displayed in rrControl.
It will not change anything about the state that they do not render with your scene.

Just had a thought: Perhaps is is the output naming.
Please try not to use any <Renderpass> in the filename prefix in Maya, use the AOV settings and add the subfolder there.

Holger Schönberger
