Hi

We need to be able to install and run two different versions of Maya from the same year (2019.2 and 2019.3.2) in parallel (issues with Arnold).

So 2019.2 is Arnold 5 and 2019.3.2 is Arnold 6. All our current installs of 2019.2 is in the <Program Files>\Autodesk\Maya2019 folder as expected.

Picking up Arnold is not so much of an issue - it is very specific about the MtoA version that is run.

How can we best make sure that if we submit a job from 2019.3.2 that it does not pick up 2019.2 or vice versa?

Hope you can help!

All the best

markel

Hi

So this means that the older Arnold version is not compatible with the newer Maya?

Please select the job in rrControl, open Tab Jobs and verify that the Maya version is right.

As a next step, you have to install Maya into different folders that are named 2019.2 and 2019.3.

<Program Files>\Autodesk\Maya2019.2

<Program Files>\Autodesk\Maya2019.3

Perhaps it is possible to have Maya2019.2 in folder Maya2019, but then you need to change the client config and tell RR that Maya2019 is 2019.2.

Hi Holger

Thanks for this.

Could you please elaborate? Which/where client config? I am struggling to locate the correct file to modify; I definitely do not want to get this wrong and break things.

Cheers

Hi

The file itself is  RoyalRender\sub\cfg_global\clients.ini

But it is not that easy to edit with a text editor as I have seen that the version and the installation path are saved in two separate locations (Just logged a request to change this).
Editing via the rrConfig UI (tab Per client config) might not be easy if your machines have different render applications installed as well.

But I can take a look at our clients.ini file if you open a support ticket via support@RoyalRender.
