Hello again,

I have another problem with the renderoutput from Maya2018.3 + Redshift.
Some time ago Redshift introduced Lightgroup AOVs.
When you use them the outputname of the beauty is changed (as u have to add another beauty layer) and RR does not seem to recognize that the output is already written.

Example:

Without Light AOV

Filename Beauty: Shotname_v001_Layername.####.exr
RR recognises rendered frames, and everything works as intended.

With Light AOV
Filename Beauty: Shotname_v001_Layername.Beauty.####.exr
Filename AOV: Shotname_v001_Layername.AOV_Lightgroup_Name.####.exr

When I start a batchrender from my local machine it works without a problem.
When submitting the job to the farm via RR the machines start to render as well, but the frames won´t be set to complete

Shotname_v001_Layername.####.exr --->  is written as a temporary 1kb file, but then deleted again after the frame is rendered
Shotname_v001_Layername.Beauty.####.exr ---> is written correctly
Shotname_v001_Layername.AOV_Lightgroup_Name.####.exr  ---> is written correctly

As the frame check is always looking for Shotname_v00x_Layername.####.exr and the frame never is written successfully the frames won´t be set to complete.
I could disable the check as a workaround while submitting, but then new tasks re-render the already rendered frames.

I hope you understand what I´m trying to explain.

The submission plugin does not yet support it.

Workaround (Beside the job option "Do not check for frames"):
For Arnold, the plugin does some changes for AOVs if they are not
merged into the mail image.
Perhaps you can do these changes manually in the rrSubmitter until the
issue is fixed. Open the Scene Settings in the rrSubmitter.

Enter beauty into Channel.
Add <Channel> to the image name.

Sorry, the workaround does not work.
Using <RenderPass> in the main file name prefix is not recognized by Redshift.
Redshift just replaces it with "Beauty" for all AOVs.

Yeah tried it myself :(
Any ETA when you will integrate this so it´ll work with RR as it´s a quite fundamental thing?
Disabling the check sequence doesn´t help much either, as the slaves seem to overrender the frames all the time or just stop working.
They just rendered 19 out of 75 frames overnight.

You have to disable the post-script Sequence Check, but more important you have to enable the option “Do not check for frames”.

Then each frame is send once.  (Fire’n’forget like many other render managers)

It is not a quick change for the submission plugin, but it should be done for the update next week.

The "do not check for frames option" was the one I was overlooking the whole time.
I´m happy with fire and forget for now :)

Thanks Holger.

FYI:
It is not the light group. The latest Redshift version disables the
main render output if you add a Beauty AOV.

This change will probably be the last change before we release the RR
version of this month.

Hi Holger,

Any updates on this issue? We just updated to 8.2.18 and it still seems to be an issue. We use the prefix for the Redshift AOV: <BeautyPath>/<BeautyFile>_<RenderPass>/<BeautyFile>_<RenderPass> for the beauty AOV but royal render can't seem to see the files it renders and then errors out.

Hi

I just checked the submission plugin, there is the function to fix the
Redshift Beauty AOV issue.

Please open the Maya Plugin Manager.
Which RR plugin is loaded?

Start the rrSubmitter via the RR menu, close the rrSubmitter, open the
Maya script log (bottom right).
Which version is shown?

says rrSubmit v8.2.17... should I uninstall/reinstall the win__rrWorkstation_installer.bat on all the clients submitting?

rrControl says the version is 8.2.18a

Perhaps there is some small difference we have not reproduced.
Can you delete all geo and upload a scene for us to repro?

Thanks

Sc13_14_CGRPBinds_v018_RoughRender_RRUpload.ma, I get errors on rrcontrol saying it can't find output directory so it never updates the frames rendered.

I can reproduce the issue.

The issue seems to be in connection with using <BeautyFile> twice in your AOV filename override.

Note:

As all your AOVs have a manual override for the filename and all overrides are actually the same,

you can use

Testing3\<RenderLayer>_<RenderPass>\<RenderLayer>_<RenderPass>

in the global file name prefix and nothing in the AOV file name prefix.

This will be supported with RR with the next update as well.
