Hi,
Well I now got 10 permanent Arnold render Liceses and I am trying to get Royal Render render on all clients.
I got the Autodesk Licensing (flexlm) running on one of the Render Machines (R05).
I set the environment variables to that R05 Render Machine and on all other clients (ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE)
In the maya__inhouse.rrENV  file  I also defined the servers pointing to the machine where the Arnold License is running (R05). The other servers are for Maya  (ADSKFLEX_LICENSE_FILE = @ff-ts-01;@ff-fs-01;@R05)

Well when i try to render a scene RR only renders on that R05. All other clients abort rendering, saying:
"ERROR | aborting render because the abort_on_license_fail option was enabled

R101| [mtoa] Failed batch render"

R133| Error in this log file (355): 00:00:21 290mb error | aborting render because the abort_on_license_fail option was enabled

R134| Error in this log file: found error that calls an abort: failed batch render

R135| **** Warning: No new frame found! ****

R136| Error: Abort - found error in render log

What setting am I missing?

Hi

As only R05 is rendering and R05 has the license server running, I assume it is a network issue.

Has R05 a firewall running? Please try to disable it for a test.

Well yes a firewall was enabled. Disabled the firewall on all the machines.

Now 7/8 machines render. One machine stops due to a permission error. I am logged in as admin on those machines. I also installed the client service with the rrWorkstation_installer using that admin account and password. The rr_localdata folder has all permissions enabled.

I try to reinstall the client service.

I thought it works now, as I reinstalled the client watch on that one machine. But now also some other machines randomly stop rendering, because of that permission issue:

R944| Error in this log file (1160): 00:00:21 315mb error | [driver_exr] defaultarnolddriver@driver_exr.rgba: can't create file "c:/rr_localdata/renderout/a/render/test/testrender/rr/beauty/test01.0128.exr": openexr exception: permission denied.

Hi

There are two possible reasons:

The new installation of the client service uses a different user and cannot overwrite the file.

In this case delete all a,b,c,…   subfolders in c:/rr_localdata/renderout/

The reinstallation or some other issue has caused that an old render thread was running while the client started.

And got the same job again, so the render is running twice.

A machine restart solves this.

Hi,

Yes I think its the last possibility. I always rerendered my test file again and again, so it messed up the jobs somehow.
The last render test I did, I renamed camera, added renderpasses and renderlayers to the naming of the rendered file. So I had a complete new render job.
And that render did render without errors.

I think it is working now :)

Thank you again.
