Which rr version for maya Maya have been converted to Python 3??

Hi:)

We are on an older version of royal render and just wondering which royal render version for Maya has been rewritten to python 3?? I have searched through the updates but can't find it.

We have already tried to change the environment variables, but that causes a crash on our PCs that run windows 7. 

any advice or suggestions are appreciated :)

We are in the progress of testing the latest Maya version on our side.

We can probably send a quickfix this week.

Please, replace your files

RR_ROOT\render_apps\_submitplugins\rrSubmit_Maya_2017+.py
RR_ROOT\render_apps\_submitplugins\rr_original\rrSubmit_Maya_2017+.py

RR_ROOT\render_apps\scripts\kso_maya.py
RR_ROOT\render_apps\scripts\rr_original\kso_maya.py

with the ones from the archive. Now you should be able to submit and render Maya 2022 scenes

Hi 

Sorry this fix took a while for us to check, we had to wait for a break between projects:)

But now I tested it and I can load the rr plugin into maya 2022, but on the farm any jobs crash with the error: "ERROR: No module named 'SocketServer"

any suggestions?:)

RR_ROOT\render_apps\scripts\kso_tcp.py
RR_ROOT\render_apps\scripts\rr_original\kso_tcp.py

You can download the latest version straight from our github repo: please right click on the following link, then "Save with name"

But seems there is still some issues:S This time I got this errors:

Permanent error in this log file: ' 13:06.52 rrmaya - error: error occurred during execution of mel script

Error in this log file (387): error: line 1: plug-in, "redshift4maya", was not found on maya_plug_in_path.

Error in this log file: error: file: c:/rr_localdata/renderscripts/kso_maya.mel line 11: nameerror: file c:/rr_localdata/renderscripts\kso_maya.py line 47: error reported, aborting render script


We have updated Redshift as well, any suggestions for what we could have messed up on?

Hi Sigrid,

in this case it will be good to look at a full debug. Can you please upload your info to our server?

Please select the job in rrControl.
Then execute "Export debug info - selected job(s)" via the menu "Debug".
Please upload via www.RoyalRender.de/upload_r.php

Hi,

the reccomended way to use 3d party renderers with Royal Render is to install them on the render farm. Please look for the Redshift section in our 3d party help page


Farm-Wide installation:

  • Install Redshift on your workstation.

  • Submit a render and check the render log file in rrControl.
    Search for the line "RedShift source path is set to". (See MtoA above for a screenshot)
    Create this folder.

  • Copy the files and subfolders of c:\ProgramData\Redshift\     into that folder

Hint: To minimize the folder size, you can remove all other software packages form the Plugins subfolder of Redshift


I was able to find this line in your log, root path omitted in a public post

RedShift source path is set to \[...]\RoyalRender\render_apps\renderer_exe\maya\win_x64\Redshift_

Please, copy the Redshift files and subfolders from C:\ProgramData\Redshift to the farm path, you can then safely remove the subfodlers of Redshift\Plugins except for "Maya", and all subfolders of Maya except "2022" and "Common". You should be able to render from then on.

For some reason we are not getting the version of Redshift used in your job, I'll investigate that but it should not prevent you from rendering

That's actually how we have installed redshift on the farm and how we have installed it on the farm earlier, but we haven't had this issue before.

Hi Sigrid,

ok, then our plugin not getting the Redshift version is the problem. As a quick fix, would the job render if you copy the folder "Redshift_3.0.31" to "Redshift_"? I will look into fixing the RS version issue in the while

our old jobs didn't have "Redshift_ ", they had "Redshift_3.0.31", Not sure how it has happened but how do I set up so royal render reads redshift from the right path??

Hi,

I am testing Redshift and both the latest version of the submission plugin and the one you are using (d8.2.40_py) read the Redshift version correctly. Just to be sure, the Redshift version doesn't show up in rrSubmitter and rrControl either, is that correct?

Does it happen with every scene? Is 3.0.31 the version you are using? I will check that we can get older version numbers properly

Hi,

After your fix with using redshift_, I can render again and I can see my new job in rrControl has the version number but not the old ones from yesterday. Bit harder to check rrSubmitter as I have already run the fix.

How do you submit your jobs?

It looks like you are not using the rrSubmit_Maya_2017+.py plugin in Maya.

(The jobs rrSubmitterPluginVersion states “d8.2.40_py”).

Please upload the submission plugin file that is loaded in Maya via www.RoyalRender.de/upload_r.php

Then we can compare it to the latest version we have and see if there is an issue with the version detection.

Hi, 

Actually you are right within the submitter it says submit ver_ d8.2.40_py, but the plugin that's loaded into maya is the rrSubmit_Maya_2017+.py, and I am submitting through maya using RRender -> submit scene.

though outdated, your version of the submission plugin does not differ too much from the latest available


In order to pinpoint the issue, can you please open your scene in Maya and execute this snippet in the Python script editor

import maya.cmds as cmds
print("Redshift Version:", cmds.pluginInfo( 'redshift4maya', query=True, version=True ))


if the Redshift plugin is loaded, you should see a print-out of the current version

Hi,
we need to see what happens with a more complete test. Can you please open your Redshift scene and execute the script contained in this .zip file?


It will go through the same process as the submission plugin and report which settings have been found. Can you please report the results here? Are you using Legacy Render Layers in your scene? If you wish, you can also upload an empty version of your maya scene via www.RoyalRender.de/upload_r.php

There is no render layers in this scene, so no legacy or of the new system. I did upload the scene file, it is a very basic test scene:)

thanks for your your scene and printout. The maya scene is of course fine, and as you can see from the test, the plugin installed in your system is getting the Redshif version. I have another test for you


this will also export an .xml file

Can you please look for that file and send it to us. At this point, I expect the xml to contain the correct information (you can check for yourself, here's how it looks on my system)

This is what is loaded by rrSubmitter. At this point we think that the information we collect in the scene is correct, but that Royal Render 8.2.16 had a bug related to renderer info which has then been fixed.

Hi,

looking at the history it would seem that rendererVersion from xml files is supported since 8.2.19 - 08.Mar.201. That would imply that the version detection used in later submission plugins will not work with version earlier than that. The issue should fix itself once you update your Royal Render
