Getting Softimage 2015 R2 Redshift set up for rrVer7.0.30?

I am trying to set up RR rendering with Redshift from Softimage 2015 R2, but get these errors:

I have added Softimage 2015 to the clients config and copied 

C:\Users\render\Autodesk\Softimage_2015_R2\Addons\Redshift

to 

L:\RoyalRender\render_apps\renderer_exe\softimage\Redshift  (Royal Render o our server)

I have checked the documentation but come up short on this one. What am I missing?

Did you edit the workgroup path to match the XSI workgroup path?

 

rr\render_apps\_setenv\win\softimage.bat

I have had Arnold rendering fine with RR so I did this long time ago. Redshift is a default user installation , so it is not in a Workgroup. Royal Render should be getting it from here:

L:\RoyalRender\render_apps\renderer_exe\softimage\Redshift

Hi

A Softimage workgroup is the same as the other Softimage plugin
folders "Users" and "Factory". Just a different name for "Custom
Plugin folder".

Redshift is an addon like any other plugin for Softimage.
The addon folder

C:\Users\render\Autodesk\Softimage_2015_R2\Addons\Redshift

has to be copied to YourWorkgroup\Addons\Redshift

Please check the render log in rrControl. The workgroup you use for RR
should be stated a few lines after Softimage started


I am not sure if the addon requires additional files from the Redshift
folder c:\ProgramData\Redshift\. But in this case you should get
another error message that I can help you with.

That helped a bit. I can now get it to render some, but it throws other errors - weirdly enough from clients that manage to render a frame and then crashes on the next and the errors make no sense to me.

I am running the same Redshift version we are using without issues with Maya. I have just now gotten around to setting it up on RR for Softimage, as Maya sadly is our main tool now.

BTW it appears it only renders on two of our machines - the others crash with the same error message. These two machines are not identical hardware wise, so I have yet to realize why it works like this.

Is redshift installed on all machines? Does c:\ProgramData\Redshift exist?

If it does, please edit the file _setenv/win/softimage.bat and add
these lines:

Hi Holger,

No it is not installed on all clients. I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that Royal Render would launch Redshift  on clients from L:\RoyalRender\render_apps\renderer_exe\softimage\Redshift  (Royal Render on our server).

Is the way to go to install Redshift on all clients and use the above addition to the softimage.bat file?

As you can see in the softimage.bat file, I have specified C:\ProgramData\Redshift as path.

If you have not installed it on all clients, then you can copy Redshift to any other path and change the path in the Softimage.bat file.
