Houdini opengl ROP

Hello,

i'm trying to render an opengl rop with RR but jobs crash everytime saying :

 05. 11:50Handling window: 'HYTHON.EXE' 'Houdini' 'Fatal Error' '|OpenGL Fatal Error: The installed OpenGL driver is not able to run OpenGL 3.3. Please update the driver and check the minimum system requirements for Houdini (www.sidefx.com/sysreq) |' click on: 'Button'-'OK'

But the machine has a GTX1060 with last drivers and openGl version beyond 3.3.

Also i tested the scene on the same machine with interface and also via hbatch rendering and it worked!

Seams to be connected with the hython.exe.

Can you please help?

Hi Soal, I see rrClient is running in service mode.

Not all graphics card allow access to the GPU in service mode. Please check our help

you can probably render if you run rrClient in application mode, or dual mode

Ok thank you. 

How do i do that? Because it seams that i'm already running rrclient as an application.

Do i have to re-install rrclient?

Hi

 

As you can see in the title of the application, this is rrClient-Watch, not the rrClient.

The rrClient-Watch connects to the background service that you can control it.

As services cannot display and UI.

 

You have two options:

1. App mode only.
   You have to disable the RoyalRender service, then start RR/win__rrClient.bat
   If you restart the machine or logout, then the rrClient is closed and the machine cannot render any more.
   
   
2. Dual mode
   If you start the rrClient in app mode, then it disabled the service client.
   If you restart the machine or logout, then the service takes over again.

   In a nutshell: you have to create a shortcut to the file RR/win__rrClient.bat
   and add the commandline flag -UITakeOverService

Note: Shortcuts to the win__rrClient.bat can be placed in your users Autostart.
This way it starts automatically when you login.
