Hi All,

I am rendering from a Maya file (Maya 2016.5 SP2, MtoA 1.4.1.1, Windows 10) which has a pixel aspect ratio of 2 in the output - it's an anamorphic show.

I get inconsistent results from RR (8.1.00) as far as the pixel aspect is concerned. I can render two layers from the same Maya file sent in the same submission and get one come back with aspect 2 and the other with aspect 1. This is written in the metadata of the images.

How is this happening and what can I do about it?

Thanks for any help

Dave

Hi

So far I can only tell you that while RR changes the image filename, it does not touches the resolution settings (if you do not render in tiles).

So it should not happen.

And one note as you said one layer will be right, one layer will be wrong:

If it would be random, why isn’t each frame different? Might it be the machine that has rendered the image?

Perhaps a different Maya or Arnold version?

Is just the metadata broken or is the image really rendered with the wrong aspect?

If you can delete the geo and replace it with a cube, I can try to submit it to our farm to repro the issue.

Perhaps I see any reason why it changes.

regards,
Holger Schönberger

Hi Holger,

Thanks for the reply. The layers are consistent in their pixel aspect - they don't vary frame to frame. The metadata is not broken - it correctly describes each image.

Maya and Arnold versions are the same as are the overall dimensions of the image. Once they are loaded into Nuke they can be corrected and it's no problem, but it is inconsistent and strange!

I will try to replicate the problem in a simple scene as you suggest.

Cheers
Dave
