Dear Jeremy, Sean, Randy, and Neil,
I hope this message finds you well! I am reaching out to share an exciting opportunity for students who are passionate about woodworking and looking for a summer job. Camp Fernwood, a residential summer camp in Maine, is seeking highly motivated instructors to teach at our woodworking program during summer 2026! (June 19 to August 12).
At Fernwood, they will have the incredible opportunity to teach girls ages 8-15 with diverse levels of experience. The successful candidate will join a vibrant team of 150 staff members from around the globe, participating in an engaging seven-week program designed exclusively for girls. Each day will be filled with a variety of exciting activities, making this a truly enriching experience!
This is a fantastic chance to gain hands-on experience, develop your skills, and inspire creativity in young campers. You will be part of a collaborative and supportive environment where creativity thrives.
Our woodworking program consists of:
Fundamental Techniques: Campers learn essential woodworking skills, including measuring, cutting, shaping, and finishing wood. Instruction is tailored to various experience levels, ensuring everyone can participate and improve.
Creative Projects: The program encourages campers to design and create their own projects, ranging from simple birdhouses and wooden toys to more complex items like furniture or decorative pieces.
Safety First: Safety is a top priority, with campers receiving thorough training on proper tool use and safety protocols to ensure a safe and enjoyable woodworking environment.
Thematic Exploration: Each week may focus on different themes or techniques, inspiring campers to experiment and push their creative boundaries while learning new skills.
Collaboration and Teamwork: Campers often work together on group projects, promoting teamwork and collaboration, which enhances their social skills and fosters friendships.
Showcase of Work: At the end of the session, campers typically have the opportunity to showcase their finished projects, celebrating their hard work and creativity in a supportive environment.
Encouraging Atmosphere: The program emphasizes a nurturing and positive environment, helping campers build confidence in their abilities while exploring the joy of creating with their hands.
Overall, the woodworking program at Camp Fernwood provides a rich learning experience that empowers young artists to express their creativity, develop practical skills, and create lasting memories through their craftsmanship.
