Any project completed after May, 3, 2021 is eligible to enter in Fresh Wood 2023!
The Association of Woodworking & Furnishings Suppliers® (AWFS®) will host its biennial Fresh Wood student furniture competition. The competition, which will be showcased at the 2023 AWFS® Fair, July 25-28, in Las Vegas, is open to high school and post-secondary students in accredited woodworking or related programs.
Student Entry Applications will be accepted until May 1, 2023.
Special Theme Category The 2023 Special Theme category topic is Small Projects. Traditional large furniture or woodworking projects aren’t feasible for everyone, and small items can be just as impressive – we want to see your Small Projects! This category is for any project that is 1 cubic foot in overall size or less. No restrictions on style, but it should be made primarily of wood. Fresh Wood Entry Categories and Judging Five other entry categories make up the Fresh Wood competition: Case Goods, Seating, Tables, Design for Production, and an Open category, in which projects can be made of any material. Entries will be rated by a panel of judges that represent different aspects of the industry. Judges’ scores will determine the finalist pieces that will be on display at the AWFS®Fair. AWFS® covers project shipping and the majority of travel costs to bring students and their teachers to the AWFS®Fair. Read all the contest rules and info here. Winners will be announced at an Awards Ceremony on Thursday, July 27, which is open to all AWFS®Fair attendees and exhibitors. First place and second place awards will be given out in each category and at each school level. Looking for Inspiration? New Fresh Wood book! ICYMI…there is a NEW Fresh Wood book available!
