Request for Letter of Support of NMM

The following request went out in the NMM newsletter this morning. I
hope you might send a few words of support to help NMM in its work.

The first announcement has a particular importance and urgency attached to it:
We need a letter from you.
We've put together a proposal for Government that will have some pretty long reaching implications for the Manitoba New Media Industry over the next 3 years. We need your help to create a focussed strategy on how we're going drive the future of Interactive Media in Manitoba. In order to do that we need a letter of support to accompany our proposal.
This is a pretty big deal. It may only be an optics thing, but it benefits the new media industry immensely to have your letter of support accompany this proposal. If New Media Manitoba has benefitted you in any way over the past 10 years now would be a good time to share it.
Ironically, even though we're a digital industry, we need your words of support on a printed letter but that's just how these things work sometimes. :)
Louie Ghiz, our Business Director, has put together a brief outline of the project proposal below for you to read. The deadline that we need to receive these letters by is Friday, September 3.
If you can take just a few minutes today to write why this support is important to our industry it would be greatly appreciated. Our address is:

We am writing today to ask for your letter of support for New Media Manitoba (NMM). NMM would like to undertake a number of activities over the next three years that will stimulate growth in the Interactive Digital Media (IDM) Industry in Manitoba. NMM would like to engage in industry development and marketing activities that would create awareness and understanding of the IDM industry. NMM also recognizes that it must identify business opportunities for its members locally, nationally and where applicable internationally.
We are proposing to undertake research and strategy development that would include an industry profile, an environmental scan, and an economic impact analysis to identify the needs, strengths and opportunities of the industry. This research will be the catalyst in bringing stakeholders together working collaboratively to propose and implement a 3-year strategic action plan for Manitoba’s IDM Industry, which will require NMM’s leadership and support from all stakeholders with an interest in supporting growth in our industry.
In summary, we are applying for multi-year funding from Western Economic Diversification (WED) and provincial government for several key initiatives. Those initiatives are as follows:
1) Industry Development and Marketing of the Industry
2) Business Development: Identifying Business Opportunities and Business Training
3) Research and Strategy Development
4) Partnerships with other Industry Associations in Manitoba, throughout Canada and abroad
If you would be willing, we would greatly appreciate it if you could write a letter addressing your support for NMM engaging in the above initiatives. It would also be extremely valuable if the letter could explain how NMM had a positive effect on your company over the past year (assuming that we have :)). Please let us know.
