Church at 308 W. Mt. Vernon St in Nixa, MO, a link to the
SMLRS website has the updated hamfest flyer and parking
locations for your convenience
All of our parking is paved again this year!
In the past, our hamfest has fallen on the opening day of
Deer Firearms season - NOT THIS YEAR!!!!!! Since the
opening day is November 16th this year, we are pleased all
our hams that are also deer hunters can come out and join us
for the hamfest!!!!!!
We have 3 great presentations lined up for this year -
8:45 to 9:45 a.m. - Chuck Kraly, K0XM, will be presenting
updates on the rapid DMR expansion AND will be giving a
"hands on" lesson on how to program your DMR radios and
discussing codeplugs. If you have a problem programming
your radio, bring your radio, cable and computer and Chuck
is willing to answer questions / walk you through
programming your DMR radio
10:00 to 10:45 a.m. - James Adkins, KB0NHX, will be
giving a presentation on "The Importance of a Well
(G)rounded Station" - this presentation talks about RF
grounds, safety grounds and lightening protection grounds
and WHY you need ALL 3 at your home QTH. We'll discuss
proper grounding techniques and how to achieve them.
11:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. - Glenn Schulz, W9IQ, the ARRL's
regional Technical Coordinator, will give a presentation
titled "Understanding SWR and Feeline Loss". If you are
building antennas, or troubleshooting antenna systems, this
is a great presentation for you!
If you are an ARES member, the new Region D ARES District
Emergency Coordinator (DEC) Tom Simmons, N0CSA, will be
having a meeting for everyone to meet him and talk about
Region D ARES direction and goals.
If you've been wanting to get your license, or upgrade
your license, Rob Huelga, W3LGA, and the Nixa ARC VE team
will be testing at 8:30 a.m.. There will be a separate
prize drawing JUST for people attending this VE session - so
make it a goal to be ready to test at the hamfest - you
might just walk away with a new Yaesu FT-4X handheld radio!
Speaking of special drawings, if you are a veteran, we
have a special drawing for you! ALL veterans will be
entered in a drawing to win a $100 gift certificate to DX
Engineering! Just mention you are a veteran and show some
type of ID / proof at the hamfest entry and we'll give you a
special ticket to be entered into the drawing. We want to
thank all veterans to their service to our country!
The doors open at 8:00 a.m. and cost of entry is $7.00.
HOWEVER, if you would like a super ticket, those are priced
at $20.00 and instead of one chance to win a prize, you get
20 chances!
Here are the prizes we've picked up thus far to give away
at the hamfest -

certificate
25 feet of RG8U

breakfast and lunch items as well as snacks and coffee. If
you've been to our hamfest before, you know the food is good
and the price is extremely reasonable with coffee being
