Hi
Do NOT execute this:
>5. rrAutostartservice -install
That installs the daemon with the .exe file being in that location. But the daemon executable should be on the local drive.
And it requires a .cfg file with the settings.
Otherwise it cannot start.
rrAutostartservice -install is not mentioned in any RR help file and is never required to execute.
The last step is this:
>4. rrWorkstation_installer -serviceServer -allowShutdown -rrUser $serviceUser
This
PS: After the installation, any error of the service will be written to the rrAutostartservice_error.log right beside the deamon executable in /usr/local/RoyalRender/

Hi
The setup steps are usually:
Please start /RoyalRender/bin/lx64/rrServerconsole once.
Once started, you can close it with CTRL-C.
PS:
I will log a ticket for the developers that you can install the server service without starting the server first.

FYI: It is implemented into the next update.
That’s great. Thanks Holger!

Hi
The error can be ignored.
It is not essential/required for the current server version.
The folder should be created once the rrServer is started once via the daemon (~30 sec after the daemon was started).
But I will log a ticket to investigate the issue and remove the error message.
Hi
The rrAutostartservice is responsible for starting and watching over other apps only.
It waits ~30 seconds before it starts the other application (Because it should be started after all other apps during boot).
In this case it should start the rrServerconsole after 30 seconds.
And the rrServerconsole creates the config files.
If the rrAutostartservice is not able to start the rrServerconsole,
then it writes an error message into the file /usr/local/RoyalRender/rrAutostartservice_error.log (and the Linux OS log).
About the other issue with Windows and the password:
This is the latest daily build:
www.RoyalRender.de/download/support/230207_rrWorkstation_installer.zip
Hi
The error does not state anything about an issue starting the rrServer.
And that message about the server.so file can be ignored.
Please edit the file /usr/local/RoyalRender/rrAutostartservice.cfg
And change
writeLogFile= 0
to
writeLogFile= 1
It create a file rrAutostartservice.log which states progress messages of the service.
Hi
Does the .cfg file state a line with the rrServerconsole?
(„executable in this coded setting is /mnt/…“)
Was the service running for more than 30 seconds?
As the service waits some time.
Perhaps we should do a remote session to check all settings?
Hi
And I got a new update for linux:
www.RoyalRender.de/download/support/230209_Installer_Linux.zip
Please reinstall the service.
Ok, it started.
Error code 100 means the config initialization failed.
The app log file of the server should contain an error message now.

Hi
Ok, it seems there are some more issues to the approach not running the server first.
I think the best would be to go back and start the rrServer first until the new approach was properly tested by our devs.
1. serviceUser="rrService"
2. useradd $serviceUser
3. rrSetup_linux -console -rrRoot /rr
4. rrServerconsole -initAndClose
4. rrWorkstation_installer -serviceServer -allowShutdown -rrUser $serviceUser
