Hi
> I’m a royal user and hope this is not a complicated setup
Of course it is easier than with Deadline as we have created a new submitter plugin 2 (3?) years ago to support all Houdini features, including Husk.
(It seems Deadline is not continuing Houdini development since a few years now.
Even SideFX had to jump in and write the PDG plugin for their manager)
In RR you submit the .usd files directly from within Houdini.
(Yes, you can submit them without Houdini, but it is easier from within Houdini).
Prerequisites:
Do you have the HtoRR submission plugin available in Houdini?
It might have been already installed by the rrWorkstationInstaller.
Test: If it is loaded, you can add a rrSubmitter ROP in /out or /stage.
If not, then add it to your HOUDINI_PATH: http://www.royalrender.de/help/Scripted.html
The rrSubmitter supports all LOPs/ROPs, PDG, sliced simulations, …
And offers additional features like RR dependencies, Python script execution, Denoise
and non-Houdini jobs ( like adding Nuke after your ROP to get a final image).
To get an overview, please scroll though the help page.
Modify your scene:
You have to make one small modification to your USD ROP/LOP in Houdini.
As the USD ROP does not contain any information which renderer you want to use.
Please see “Modify the usd ROP/LOP nodes interface”, bullet point Renderer.
http://www.royalrender.de/help/SolarisUSD.html
Submit:
At last, right-click on the USD ROP to submit it.
Or add a rrSubmitter ROP/LOP to submit it.
By default, it creates two jobs
It can be changed with the rrSubmitter ROP.
If you do change it, the rrSubmitter will notice that the .usd files are already there.
