Hello everyone,
Long story short, I added the pixel aspect ratio channel to my mantra Node. When I render locally, the exr metadata get's populated, but when submitting to RR, the metadata exr/pixelAspectRatio stay at 1. Is there any post script or things blocking the info somewhere in the rr submitter ?
I have some strange things in the alembic ROP too. Like if between houdini and the render some things happens not like they should.
Someone as any clue ?

Hi

RR logs everything that is changed in the Houdini scene into the render log.

The pixel aspect is not changed.

If you override the image resolution for the job, then the new resolution is given as an argument for the render function.

Otherwise the argument is empty as shown on this help page, see the res parameter:

https://www.sidefx.com/docs/houdini/hom/hou/RopNode.html

Then there is the job option CropExr which re-saves the .exr file.

It should not change the metadata, but perhaps there is change.

Please try to disable the job option CropExr.

>I have some strange things in the alembic ROP too

Can you explain it in detail?

What is different?

regards,
Holger Schönberger

Thanks for your reply Holger,
I removed the cropEXR parameter and it's works fine now
For the alembic ROP I will look if it's not a problem on our side when evaluating some attributes before asking anymore questions

Regards

Hi

Can you upload an .exr file to us?

www.RoyalRender.de/upload_r.php

Then I can log a dev ticket to fix the issue.

Hi, I sent the exr file,

furthermore, I investigated my problem with alembic rop without success. The idea was to be able to render an alembic file per frame. I know it's not why alembic was created but it's helping to render cache faster with multiple machines and preventing loading huge files in maya to render a few frames.
So locally we just added $F4 in the file name and it's working perfectly, but when submitting to the farm, we have our jobs correctly set and an abc file per frame. But each of these files is in reality the full sequence. So I don't really understand why

> I sent the exr file,

Thanks.

>Alembic

$F4 should be all you need to switch to a file per frame.

Please see this example scene file

www.RoyalRender.de/download/support/rr_fluid_alembic_v001.zip

I just loaded it into the rrSubmitter and rendered it.

The per-frame files are way smaller than the single file.

Thanks for the scene file but unfortunately I didn't succeed submitting the file to rr. I will look into it when I will find more time to work on this problem
