RR support for ACES colour space

Hello,

I just had a quick question, but I was wondering if support for OCIO - ACES colour space is perhaps on the road map for Royal Render?

Would be amazing to see the render progress in the correct colour space for our studio.

Hi

That’s already on the feature list.

But at the moment our priority is improving the existing features.
Like speeding up functions for large scale farms (testing 40tsd jobs with 500 clients on our side),

fix all bugs

and add parts of features that got missed for the RR9 release (e.g. automated pdf reports/stats)

We at A. Film would like to jump on the "Correct Colors for OCIO rendered EXRs" since we now turned the thumbnailing off as we cannot count on the color :-)

FYI:
The next RR version 9.1.06 has OCIO support.

We are updating the submission plugins (Maya, Blender, ..) one by one to add the OCIO settings.
Not all applications might be supported with that release 9.1.06.

 

 

How it works:

The rrJob contains settings for

-  OCIO config file

-  Color Space of the file.
   Which is in most cases the “Rendering Space” of the renderer.
   Or in case you have set the output file to convert the color space to a different one, that is taken.

 

The rrClient uses these settings to convert preview images and cache files to sRGB.
