When I try to install the program it gives me a message that says,
"Unable to launch RPI Scheduler". I thought perhaps this was due to
Java 6, so I uninstalled 6 and installed Java 5 from your website.
After some promising warning messages the same message popped up.
Any help?

I have the same problem. I recently re imaged my computer and I'm
running Windows Vista.

Yeah I went on the FAQ, and I recently reimaged my computer too and I
can't get scheduler to load. It says "Unable to launch application".
So the solution it says to turn simple file sharing [SFS] off, change
permissions, and turn SFS back on. But I don't know how to do that.
Any help?

The FAQ says to disable SFS, "fix permissions", and then reenable SFS.
I found a guide on enabling SFS for vista:
http://www.home-network-help.com/simple-file-sharing.html .

It is a much more lengthly process then for XP, and I already have
full acess to my home folder, so this didnt work.. The Scheduler
program works great on my mac, but this is kind of absurd.
I have this nagging feeling that it dosent work because the filesystem
for the user forlders has changed a bit in vista..

Yeah I've done that actually, I googled how to change the file sharing
settings, and turned my SFS on. I restarted my computer after that,
and checked to see if the settings stayed on, and Scheduler still
won't load. I think I'm just going to take it to the VCC sometime.

ok,

so create a shortcut to C:\Program Files\Java\jre6\bin\javacpl.exe

go to properties, shortcut tab, then ckick advanced

check "Run as Administrator"

hit ok, ok then use the shortcut

this will ask you to authenticate, and then it brings up the java
control panel

click the "view.." button

then a window pops up showing you your application cache

notice rpi scheduler should be there. if not go install it.

you can click on the green play icon to start the scheduler

Unfortunatley, as far as I can tell, there is no really good way to
make a direct shortcut.. I think it can be done with the javaws.exe
and some command line options, but for something I dont really plan on
using all the time, this is fine.
If I do come across some more time, I will fool around with it more.

I have tried everything on this forum. I am a freshman on a laptop
running vista and none of my friends can get it to work either. Anyone
have specific instructions to get the freshman laptops working with
this?
