This year has been hard on my family. We almost lost my dad to COVID. 27 days in the hospital, doctors gave him a 10% chance of making it out of it!  He pulled through and now I want to get all of his old 8mm films digitized. I have all the parts except for the pi camera and lens. I really want to get this done so he can watch the old movies whenever he wants. He has been asking me and my sisters to have a "movie" night and he will set up a video camera on the screen to make a digital copy of the movies. I want to do better and see a huge smile on his face when we watch them!! I always thought I was technically inclined but I read on here about what people are doing here and I think I have no clue what they are doing. I did get the raspberry pi software installed but am still working on the projector.

Can someone please recommend a pi camera and lens kit? I keep going back and forth about the v1 and v2 camera. And have no clue what type of lens I need.

Please help me get this done before it is too late! I would regret it if I did not get this done.

Thanks

Andy

Wanted to buy the three components, lens, ring, and camera - but the lens is no longer available. I have checked eBay but not sure if it the same lens.

It's more expensive but for best results I recommend the Rasberry camera HQ with a good lens like the Schneider Componon S-50.
See the assembly with extension rings and adapters in "Trying a new lens" in the google group of my yart project
