Use without a trigger?

I would like to use this with a diy scanner that has no trigger pin.    The film frame is centred manually (using stepper) and then the stepper is relied on to move the film frame by frame by a defined number of steps.

Any thoughts or guidance on how to change code to handle this are welcomed!

I have not used the rPi capture software, but I did do a simple arduino capture for 16mm film with a stepper drive and without using a trigger.

I have twice captured several reels, with over 1 kilometer of film, forget how many frames and there was no issue with framing and no trigger, apart from the usual jitter from slightly worn sprocket holes.

I did use  two trigger/limit switches on the film going to the take up reel as I did not have a good slipping clutch.

Thanks,   I have found no issues with just using a stepper motor with no trigger (usual jitter but thats easily fixed in davinci fusion).  Makes it really simple.

However having manually done a HDR test frame using different exposures (+-2EV) I can see there is so much more detail in the films dynamic range that one exposure doesn’t pick up (even with RPi HQ camera on High HDR range setting).  So really keen to use this software which looks really good.   However having only very basic programing skills the ability to change it from an interrupt triggered process to a simpler move-takephoto-repeat process is prob too difficult for me.
