A message from the President and Vice President of RPI Rugby.
Dearest Alumni,
It is our understanding that Coach Andrew Denson and a few of the recent alumni/actives talked to some of you at Can-Ams about helping the actives with some monetary issues that arose last spring. The Student Union fronted money to allow us to participate in
the annual Beast of the East Rugby Tournament, and in a few weeks, on November 1, 2019, we are required to pay them back. We have been fundraising as much as we can by volunteering at Sodexo events and we also hosted a successful Wingburger sale last week.
We are hoping to avoid any extra charges on the active members this semester. With RPI’s increasing tuition, some of the players struggle with our current dues, and we don’t want this to be the reason any of them has to step away from rugby. We are asking the
alumni association if they would be able to pledge half of amount owed, with the active members fundraising for the other half. The total amount owed is $4,553.83, which makes our asked contribution from you $2,276 dollars.
The Alumni have helped us out a lot over the years, and we greatly appreciate it, now more than ever. The consistent success we’ve seen on the field has stemmed largely from your continued contributions to the team, monetarily or otherwise. We hope to see you
at Alumni Weekend and Can-Am in years to come, especially as we move on to become alumni ourselves.
Sincerely,
Kyle Melvin and Vanessa Tarantino
RPI Rugby President and Vice President
