Hey guys...

In the spirit of keeping the discussion alive, I wanted to throw some
thoughts out as far as a few different things. And if I'm overstepping
my bounds as the "editor" you can tell me to shove off. :)

As far as contributions go, I think we can keep it fairly simple...

* Title (required)
* Author(s) Names (required)
* Attribution (required) - If it appeared somewhere first, where did
it appear? (book, magazine, blog, web site, etc...)
* Description (required)
* Keywords (for index) (required)
* Category (don't necessarily want to cross categories, but can do
that too) (required)
* Quote/Vignette (optional) - some witty saying or story about how the
table was used once
* Example Usage (optional) (useful for crossing genres)
* And the table itself of course

I'd recommend Word format or Open Office for submissions over HTML,
but we can probably fudge whatever formats to whatever else.

Questions:
1. Are all tables meant to be random? Perhaps someone will want to
contribute a table of references? How are we focusing the scope of the
contributions?
2. Might I suggest broader categories - Who, What, Where, When, Why,
and How... - Easier bigger groupings, with some of these more specific
categories as keywords for the index? Though I love the chapter ideas
we have so far, if we're going to be cross-genre and systemless the
bigger buckets might work better.

That's it for now. Hope everybody has a great weekend!!

So, on the submission side...we're looking at something that has an
attachment, correct? I could request .doc or .rtf to keep it simple.
From an editing standpoint, would that be easy enough to work with?

Yup. I think that would work. Open Office can read dang near anything
(rtf and doc included) and I have a copy of MS Office here too, so
anything that comes in we can resave in a consistent format if needs
be.

.doc and .rtf should be easy enough, and readable by most programs. I
agree with all the submission requirement and suggestions, too.

As for the questions...I don't think random tables are necessarily
required. References are handy, too, though I'm not quite sure what
you are envisioning. Examples?

And I think the larger categories are a very good idea. Specific ToC
and index a must, of course, but big buckets give us room to play.

Cool. Not sure about reference tables... but perhaps the top 10
references on modern weapons, Egyptian myth, game design, anything...
If we don't get any, that's cool too - but I didn't want to cut them
out without giving them a fair shake.

Cool on the larger categories as well... If we want it as wide open as
we can possibly make it, the broader categories give us much more room
to play with IMHO. And yes, a great ToC and awesome index are required
from my POV - especially with something as broad as I suspect we're
going to end up with.

I'm excited to see how this all works out. :)
