I'm getting the Starter Set as birthday present :D

The starter set is coming out 24th july and the PHB somewhere around 24th august iirc.   Monster Manual and DMG the month after that i think.

 

That said, im gonna try D&D Next out :)

not sure if we stick to hasbro/wizards or can we keep the options open ?

What about Hackmaster ? :-D (with quite a refresment in case of gamesystem) 

Or Pathfinder ? :-p  There are multiple path's available...

Concerning DnD Next, hmm I'm not overly overwhelmed with the mechanic's from what I've seen.

Anyhow, here in Antwerp we're going to start an Adventurer League program (the new organized play of DnD), probably with a few sessions during the summer, then going full swing after the holidays.

I would propose to switch to 5th edition, either converting our current game or starting a new adventure.

 

I am interested in organised play but I would also happily play a home campaign with you guys.

 

The PHB is supposed to be available from August on as far as I know.

 

I will check the exact date tonight.

FLNGs may or may not get it 3 weeks earlier.

Not quite sure about that.

I'll be getting the three base books for collection's sake. Might be interesting to play a game or two to see how it runs. We can always see after that. I still have that Star Wars Saga Edition campaign on backburner; I also have some 3.5 adventures and/or ideas that optionally are easy to convert into Pathfinder. I also have the 4E Tomb of Horrors mini-campaign. And finally, a homebrew Ghostbusters game that really needs playtesting :P So ample options are available. But I suggest we finish any ongoing campaigns first, and put things to a vote afterwards. Just my two proverbial copper pieces.

I'm new to the group, so my applogies if I ask few silly questions.

Are you interested in extra player (I prefer mages & paladins)

Where & when would this take place?

What is expected for preperation?

I have skimmed through 5 edition rules & was disapointed that they changed the system again towards rulebook 3.5 rather then 4.

They changed the at will / at encouter / daily systems & went back to spells per day, in my opinion that limits the wizard again in an dungeon environment.

What I'm saying is I'm not a big fan, but would be willing to try it, but mostly because I just look forward to playing D&D, no matter what rule version.
