Dear Vincent,

It was mentioned that the recommended raw acc data should be recorded between 80-100Hz. I was wondering if we have raw data recorded at only 30Hz frequency, will it work as well? Would there be any major implications?

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks!

Regards,
Claire

Dear Claire,

I think the answer to your question may depend on sensor brand and data is sampled or resampled. Also, the answer may be specific to your behavioural outcome of interest.

Intuitively I would expect no influence on GGIR's sleep detection, because the sleep detection only relies on rolling median. Magnitude of movement might be affected depending on how resampling is done. I think more research is needed to make strong statements about this.

Note that Scott Small has been doing work in this direction, see pre-print here: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.10.22.20217927v1

Best, Vincent
