The secretariat apologizes for the long gap since the last update. On 7-8 Feb, members of NREGA Sangharsh Morcha are meeting to discuss the role of the Morcha and its activities in the coming months. The meeting will take place at Garhwal Bhavan (Panchkuiyan Road, New Delhi 11001) and will take place from 11 am to 8 pm on 7 Feb and 9:30 am to 1:30 pm on 8 Feb. Meeting with MPs on 3 Jan / सांसदों के साथ 3 जनवरी को बैठक
On 3 January, members of People’s Action for Employment Guarantee, Samruddha Bharat Foundation and NREGA Sangharsh Morcha met with Members of the Parliament and State Assemblies from seven states to discuss the chronic underfunding in NREGA and other issues of concern with the implementation of the programme. It was highlighted that with three months remaining in this financial year, 99% of NREGA funds were already spent with no commitments for additional funds. Open letter to PM on Undermining of NREGA / प्रधान मंत्री को नरेगा के कमज़ोर होने पर खुला पत्र
As one of the outcomes of the 3 January meeting, 90 Members of the Parliament and 160 other persons (including former bureaucrats, academics and leaders of farmers’ movements) wrote an open letter to the Prime Minister on the systematic undermining of NREGA.
3 जनवरी के परिणाम के रूप में 90 सांसदों व 160 अन्य लोगों (जिनमें पूर्व के सरकारी अधिकारी, शोधकर्ता, सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता व किसान आन्दोलनों के प्रतिनिधि शामिल थे) ने प्रधान मंत्री को नरेगा पर लगातार हो रहे प्रहारों के बारे में एक खुला पत्र लिखा.
Supplementary budget approved / अतिरिक्त बजट की स्वीकृति
Soon after the release of the above mentioned open letter, Government of India announced a supplementary budget of Rs 6,084 crores for the ongoing financial year. Now, the total NREGA budget for 2018-19 is Rs 61,048 crores.
इस पत्र के कुछ ही दिनों बाद भारत सरकार ने 2018-19 के लिए नरेगा के लिए अतिरिक्त 6,084 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित करने की घोषणा की. अब इस वित्तीय वर्ष के लिए नरेगा का कुल बजट 61,084 करोड़ रुपये हो गया है.
Delay in release of supplementary budget / अतिरिक्त बजट के रिलीज़ में देरी

NREGA budget for 2019-20 / 2019-20 के लिए नरेगा का बजट
Government of India has allocated only Rs 60,000 crore for NREGA for 2019-20. This is even less than the allocation for NREGA for the current financial year (Rs 61,084 cr).
2019-20 में नरेगा के लिए भारत सरकार ने मात्र 60,000 करोड़ रुपये आवंटित किए हैं, जो इस वर्ष के कुल नरेगा बजट (61,084 करोड़) से भी कम है.
Protest in Muzaffarpur (Bihar) / मुजफ्फरपुर (बिहार) में धरना
On 14 December, members of Samaj Parivartan Shakti Sangathan (SPSS) and their supporters staged a protest in Muzaffarpur, Bihar to demand the withdrawal of false cases against their members. 14 दिसंबर को समाज परिवर्तन शक्ति संगठन व उनके समर्थकों ने संगठन के सदस्यों के विरुद्ध फ़र्जी मुक़दमे दर्ज करने के विरुद्ध धरना प्रदर्शन किया. बिहार के डी.जी.पी. को एक शिकायत भी लिखी गई. एक वक्तव्य जारी किया गया जिसका 100 से अधिक लोगों ने समर्थन किया.
Protests in Karnataka / कर्नाटक में प्रदर्शन
On 29 October in Kalaburagi, NREGA workers affiliated with the Grameena Kooli Karmikara Sangh (GRAKOOS) stages a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office to demand payment of wages for work done over the past two years. In total, wages of over 700 workers were pending. On 12 October, members of GRAKOOS protested in front of the office of the CEO of Kalaburagi Zilla Panchayat to demand, among other things, an increase in the NREGA wage rate to Rs 600 per day. Media report of the protest I Two hundred workers also protested in Bagalkot to demand increase in the number of days of work under NREGA to 200.
29 अक्टूबर को कलाबुरागी में ग्रामीण कूली कर्मिकारा संघ (ग्राकूस) से जुड़े नरेगा मज़दूरों ने डिप्टी कमिश्नर के कार्यालय के सामने पिछले दो वर्षों में किए गए कार्य की मज़दूरी न मिलने का विरोध किया.
Last CEGC Meeting / सी.ई.जी.सी. की आख़िरी बैठक
The Central Employment Guarantee Council held its 20th meeting on 14 September. Important decisions of the meeting include examination of proposal to enhance compensation to families of deceased NREGA workers to Rs 2 lakhs, requesting states to include NREGA workers in insurance schemes, taking steps to reduce delays in wage payments and strengthening social audits. Meetings in Telangana and AP / तेलंगाना और आंध्र प्रदेश में बैठकें
Telangana-Libtech India, Upadhi Hami Phone Radio, Dalit Bahujan Front and Tudum Debba organized a series of meetings of NREGA workers and civil society groups in Telangana in September and October to develop a charter of demands of NREGA workers in the wake of assembly elections. The meetings were organized in six districts of the state including the tribal areas. The charter of demands was released in Sundarayya Vignan Kendra, Hyderabad. In Andhra Pradesh, Ambedkar Association and Samalochana organized awareness meetings among NREGA workers in Munagapaka and Nathavaram mandals of Visakhapatnam District.

तेलंगाना में चुनाव के सन्दर्भ में नरेगा मज़दूरों का मांग पत्र तैयार करने के लिए तेलंगाना लिबटेक, उपाधी हामी फ़ोन रेडियो, दलित बहुजन फ्रंट और टुदुम डब्बा ने सितम्बर और अक्टूबर में कई बैठकों का आयोजन किया. ये बैठकें राज्य के छः ज़िलों में आयोजित हुई. मांग पत्र सुनाराया विग्नान केंद्र, हैदराबाद में जारी किया गया. आंबेडकर असोसिएशन और समालोचन ने विशाखापटनम ज़िले के मुनागापका और नाथावाराम मंडलों में नरेगा मज़दूरों के बीच जागरुकता बैठकों का आयोजन किया.
