दयामय ऐसी मति हो जाये
~ पण्डित नाथूराम प्रेमी

दयामय ऐसी मति हो जाये
त्रिभुवन की कल्याणकामना, दिन-दिन बढ़ती जाये

औरों के सुख को सुख समझूँ, सुख का करूँ उपाय
अपने दुःख सब सहूँ किन्तु परदुःख नहिं देखा जाये

अधम, अज्ञ, अस्पृश्य, अधर्मी, दुःखी और असहाय
सबके अवगाहन हित मम उर सुरसरि सम बन जाये

भूला-भटका उलटी मति का जो है जनसमुदाय
उसे समझाऊँ सच्चा सत्पथ, निज सर्वस्व लगाय

सत्य धर्म हो, सत्य कर्म हो, सत्य ध्येय बन जाये
सत्यान्वेषण में ही ‘प्रेमी’ जीवन यह लग जाये

May My Mind Become Compassion Itself

(A Poetic English Translation)

May my mind become compassion itself,
May the silent prayer for the welfare of all three worlds
Grow gently, day by day.

May the joy of others become my own true joy,
May I labour always to increase that joy;
May I bear my own sorrows in quiet strength,
But never turn my eyes from another’s pain.

Be they fallen, ignorant, untouchable, faithless,
Sorrowful or helpless;
For the refuge and healing of them all,
May my heart become like the sacred Ganga.

For the vast multitudes who wander astray,
Whose thoughts have turned upon themselves,
With my whole being, with my entire offering of self,
May I guide them gently to the true and righteous path.

Let Satya Dharma be my way,
Let Satya Karma be my action,
Let Satya alone be my life’s aim;
And in the seeking of Satya alone,
O Premi, may this entire life of mine
Be quietly, completely spent.
