Section 2: Prayer to Lord Ajitanatha

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
यस्य प्रभावात् त्रिदिवच्युतस्य क्रीडास्वपि क्षीवमुखार्विन्दः
अजेयशक्तिर्भुवि बधुवर्गश्चकार नामाजित इत्यबन्ध्यम् [१]
yasya prabhāvāt tridivacyutasya krīḍāsvapi kṣīvamukhārvindaḥ
ajeyaśaktirbhuvi badhuvargaścakāra nāmājita ityabandhyam [1]
You were reborn on earth after completing your lifespan in heaven
While playing you, your mates had delighted smiles on their faces
As they felt a surge of irrepressible energy of which you are the source
Quite rightly, you have been named Ajita - the invincible one
अद्यापि यस्याजितशासनस्य सतां प्रणेतुः प्रतिमङ्गलार्थम्
प्रगृह्यते नाम परं पवित्रं स्वसिद्धिकामेन जलेन लोके [२]
adyāpi yasyājitaśāsanasya satāṃ praṇetuḥ pratimaṅgalārtham
pragṛhyate nāma paraṃ pavitraṃ svasiddhikāmena jalena loke [2]
Even today, your indomitable teachings cannot be overturned by opponents
Seekers of liberation chant your supremely sacred name to attain their goal
यः प्रादुरासीत् प्रभुशक्तिभूम्ना भव्याशयालीनकलङ्कशान्त्यै
महामुनिर्मुक्तघनोपदेहो यथारविन्दाभ्युदयाय भास्वान् [३]
yaḥ prādurāsīt prabhuśaktibhūmnā bhavyāśayālīnakalaṅkaśāntyai
mahāmunirmuktaghanopadeho yathāravindābhyudayāya bhāsvān [3]
Your unlimited powers are manifest, you are free from karmas
Just like the Sun which causes lotuses to bloom
When it frees itself from clouds and shines
Your teachings endowed with divine meaning cleanse the souls
Of those who are capable of attaining liberation
येन प्रणीतं पृथु धर्मतीर्थं ज्येष्ठं जनाः प्राप्य जयन्ति दुःखम्
गाङ्गम् हृदं चन्दनपङ्कशीतं गजप्रवेका इव धर्मतप्ताः [४]
yena praṇītaṃ pṛthu dharmatīrthaṃ jyeṣṭhaṃ janāḥ prāpya jayanti duḥkham
gāṅgam hṛdaṃ candanapaṅkaśītaṃ gajapravekā iva dharmataptāḥ [4]
Just as a dip in the sandalwood cool waters of the Ganga
Soothes the elephant perturbed by the heat and perspiration
The extensive ford of religion promulgated by you
Is crossed by the wise and the noble who seek to defeat sorrow
स ब्रह्मनिष्ठः सममित्रशत्रुर्विद्याविनिर्वान्तकषायदोषः
लब्धातमलक्ष्मीरजितोजितात्मा जिनश्रियं मे भगवान् विधत्ताम् [५]
sa brahmaniṣṭhaḥ samamitraśatrurvidyāvinirvāntakaṣāyadoṣaḥ
labdhātamalakṣmīrajitojitātmā jinaśriyaṃ me bhagavān vidhattām [5]
You are deeply immersed in the transcendental self
You treat both enemies and friends the same
Through knowledge, you have freed yourself from the flaw of passion
O indomitable one, you have conquered the soul
I seek your grace in attaining the true wealth of the soul - liberation
