Thiscustom firmware is based on the Official Firmware, and includes most of the awesome features from Unleashed. It is a direct continuation of the Xtreme firmware, built by the same (and only) developers who made that project special.

The goal of this firmware is to constantly push the bounds of what is possible with Flipper Zero, driving the innovation of many new groundbreaking features, while maintaining the easiest and most customizable user experience of any firmware. Fixing bugs promptly and ensuring a stable and compatible system is also of our utmost importance.

When using this firmware, think about supporting the author -- they really put a lot of effort into it

The Momentum True Wireless (MTW) was one of my favourite options in the first generation of TWS in-ears and the Momentum True Wireless 2 (MTW2) usurped it by appending some critical flaws while introducing a host of additional features. However, though much refined, the sound tuning changes did cause some contention amongst the user base in addition to the efficacy of its noise cancelling. Specifically, though the MTW2 brought a more overall balanced sound, the upper-midrange was denser/more laid-back which sapped energy from its sound. Simply put, the first generational model was less balanced but also more engaging and it appears that such an engaging tuning is more appealing in an in-ear designed for portable use. The 4.80 firmware poses not only as an update but an upgrade for the MTW2. It was just recently released a few days ago with early user impressions reporting distinct changes to sound and ANC performance. Here are my impressions.

Actually, a small difference I noticed was that there was a bit less clipping than before when using the aware mode. The jangling of my house keys would cause some uncomfortable artefacts when using aware mode, however, post-update no artefacts could be heard. They still ran into issues with louder noises, such as dropping my keys onto my tiled floor or loud noises at the gym. This is a physical limitation of the microphone setup used but it seems that Sennheiser has lowered the dynamic range available here to reduce artefacts. I found the original to perform better here in my original review, but post-update the performance is quite similar.

Glad my review was helpful and thanks for detailing your experience. Yeah, the MTW1 left driver had a smaller battery so it likely degrades faster than the right. Seems we just have to wait out MTW3 to tick all the boxes, I think a lot would really appreciate a proper eQ in the app as well.

My question would be, if you will also review the new firmware (4.13.0)?

I noticed a big change in sound and have to admit that I dislike the bass and the Soundstage. It sounds somehow convoluted/inverse.

Could it be that you tried moving loads of data and broke the transfer of files? I have broken it before, clearing appdata/temps will fix that. It seems to run into errors if you are trying to transfer a ton of small files , and disconnect or interrupt transfers. You can get a visual timeout, but usually the FZ is still completing the task if you just wait, but if you break it it can have some weird results, for me clearing appdata and removing old broken data from the SD solved the problem.

Also you do not have to bother with filemanager delays, transfer speeds for newer cards and you can just edit data with your regular file explorer, so if you want to copy like the entire UberGuidoz FZ , do it with a cardreader , and it will save you a ton of time.

This is custom firmware with a lot of customization. Here is the official forum for the Official Flippers firmware.

It is recommended to ask at the forum or discord of the firmware you are using. Else here the people will try to find an issue that does not exist.

My latest tech purchase of 2023 is here in the new year!!! (I purchased it December 30 and it came today) -- the Sennheiser Momentum 4 active noise-canceling headphones! This is a very dangerous purchase, as I've never tried the headphones before, and I know that the active noise-canceling market is filled with bass heavy and cabin pressure heavy products, like the Sony, Bose and AirPods out there. So after reading reviews that talk about these being with a more balanced sound, with a more friendly bass, and noise canceling levels equal to the other headphones, I decided to give them a try. Here are my thoughts.

First of all, it's comfort. Although these weigh almost 300 grams (and I was afraid of the implications), so far I've found them very comfortable. I've been wearing them for the past 3 hours to test them out, and my ears didn't sweat, and my head and neck are not tired. The sound was comparable to my Focal Shape 65 -- balanced, detailed and fun to listen to. The soundstage is wide for a pair of headphones, and they can image well.

The noise canceling has negligible feeling of pressure for me. I've used an entry level Sony WH-CH720N and enjoyed the experience of them. These are just like them, with very little pressure on the ears, and I could wear them in the noise canceling mode for a long time. The ambient mode is clear, and so far I've been testing talking with people in the mode, and it feels as if the headphones are an extention of my ears.

Some strange things I want to touch on next. The Internet says (according to Google) there's a new firmware a few days ago, but on the headphone app I still see the old firmware number, and it said that my firmware was up to date. Also, as of now I've been plugging the headphones into my laptop USB port for the past 2 hours with still "more than 80% of battery life." When will it charge to its full battery? Also, the touch surface is very sensitive, I need to be careful. I already turned off the auto pause and auto sensing feature, so the headphones won't turn off when I take them down.

2. It has a USB mode where you can turn the headphones on and it can be one of your computer's audio output (for playing audio) and input (for calls and things) devices. Unfortunately, this is not ASIO, and I believe it's using some sort of Realtek USB audio driver or whatever. Still, it's better than nothing, and I'm certainly glad to have this mode on board.

SouthPark You're welcome, SouthPark. One of the things I'm looking for is for the headphones to also work when they're not powered on, so the passive mode. And yes, if you turn them on and wire them, you'll use their internal electronics.

SouthPark No, the app is still needed to turn these features off, and I also turned off auto pausing when ambient mode activates. The settings are indeed retained inside the head set. People say that when the headset is out of its case, it'll auto start and you can't turn that feature off. But I haven't used the case while traveling, so I can't say. Loving the sound of it for now and getting used to the features.

That sounds all interesting, however I do not have sufficient technical background to fully understand why one should need noise cancelling headphones with an actice and a passive mode. I bought a pair of used Sennheiser HD595 on Ebay and an adapter from 6.5 to 3.5mm that I plug in into the audio jack of my notebook. Is there anything I could improve?

VSTP -- I think that the noise cancelling works when the headphones are powered on only (and also when the user activates/enables the noise cancelling feature). When in passive mode -- as in regular unpowered headphone connection with wire between headphone and external audio system -- there's going to be no noise cancelling activity.

I don't have any tech background really either, but I do own 3 pairs of headphones and can give an opinion. My Sony MDR-1000X's are for noise cancelling during plane trips, and the sound profile of those cans are definitely colored by their intended purpose, which is noise cancellation. I don't use them for monitoring normally because of this. I guess that the purpose of the passive mode is to allow users to continue to use the headphones after the battery runs out, which was the problem with the old Bose's. When the battery ran out, you couldn't use the headphones at all anymore until they were recharged or got new batteries (can't remember which)

My other headphones, Sennheiser 560S and tried and true Sony MDR-V60's are meant to be monitor headphones that don't add any coloration to the sound, as would Dr. Dre headphones or Beats or whatever. Oh, and the 560S are open back and MDR-V60 is closed back. Both are needed to check monitoring in different situations.

For me, I don't use headphones to monitor anything. I'm buying a noise canceling headphones for both use during flights, and the very rare time when I need to put them on to hear something. I also use the ambient mode sometimes. It's good to have the feature where you can still use the headphones when the battery dies, however with these, it'll be hard to drain the battery. Also, I just found out that if one presses the lone hardware button on the headphones, you can disable Bluetooth. Bluetooth is automatically disabled when you connect cables on to it, too.

1. Contrary to what I said in my original post, there is an audio difference between plugging in the audio jack with the headphones turned on, and the same with the cans switched off. With them on, there's a slight delay as the audio is being processed via the active electronics. Not fit for, say, plugging into the Babyface Pro FS and playing piano with, though. The sound when switched off is, in my opinion, not bad, but not good either. It's usable, I think. Since I'm doing 2 headphones in 1, I'll accept that.

4. Lastly, once you hear the chime as you manually switch off the headphones, immediately release the finger holding the button. Or else, the timer will continue to go for the 15-second countdown to reset the headphones. So, a 3-second press of that button is enough to turn them off.
