Are there laws for allotments?

Homegrown Summer Feast

We know recent news about allotment sites might be worrying, but we want to put your mind at ease. No laws protecting statutory allotment land have changed. Statutory allotment land can’t be sold without following strict legal steps—and we’re always involved to make sure that happens.

Where land has been sold, proper processes were followed, and often new allotment spaces were provided to replace them. Of course, we would love to see all allotments protected as statutory sites and will work towards this.

We’re continuing to work closely with local councils and communities to support and strengthen the future of allotments for everyone to enjoy.
