Ladies and Gentlemen,
Here is something I worked up to put on Facebook in response to the slew of texts and calls I've received considering the e-mail survey. I would love to post this along with the UAF Current Usage pdf presented by B.J. on the Reid Joseph for Student Body President group, and page in order to spread the word. If you see any typographical, factual, or philosophical mistakes (besides Mark's inevitable disagreement with the Reagan quote), please alert me as soon as humanly possible, because i would love to get this viral by no later than 3PM today. Thank you!
My rowdiness is unbearable,
Lanier
P.S. Isn't this 5 million dollar from the UAF scheme annual? As in 5M a year? Because I would love to emphasize that, but I'm not positive
"When B.J. Crain, the CFO of the University, graciously agreed to come speak to the governing bodies of SGA about the University Advancement Fee and where money allocated to Kyle Field from it would be reallocated from (aka cuts), this is the document she submitted. It shows $1.5M+ cut in BOTH libraries AND I.T. at a time where they both need to expand in order to keep up with increased demand. In addition, a $775,000 cut in Student Services would be necessary. As Aggies, we treasure leadership so much it is a core value, and reducing the opportunities is not in line with the mission of this fine University.
Because of this, Reid supports a plan to finance student side renovations of Kyle Field from a combination of increases to sports passes and a student fee. Students who do not utilize Aggie Athletic's services will still benefit from renovations, as Kyle Field is the number 1 marketing tool of the university and a massive producer of revenue. There is an saying that "a rising tide lifts all boats", a phrase often utilized by Pres. Reagan when speaking about "Reaganomics". Reid believes that a small fee per student in addition to a proportional increase in sports passes far outweighs cutting vital non-academic services.
Most of all, Reid wants to students to get engaged and informed on issues such as this during his administration. And if you are #Rowdy enough to agree, share this post and encourage all of your friends to exercise their ability to make their opinions heard!"
