Auseful resource if your ever looking for the minimum requirements for Office 365, Office apps and Windows operating systems, all in one chart, with what is supported. This resource is listed on the main Office Resources system requirements page as View related timelines on the Office system requirements matrix:

Thomson Reuters applications are designed for professional production work. Our system requirements are based on the assumption that professional accounting firms replace/upgrade their computer hardware and operating systems approximately every three years.

While our software may operate on less powerful hardware and operating systems, we do not believe it will perform at a level suitable for production work in those environments. Of course, as processing speed and RAM are increased, software performance will also improve. We recommend business class computers, which generally offer higher levels of performance than home models when running business applications.

Office 365 ProPlus delivers cloud-connected and always up-to-date versions of the Office desktop apps. To ensure that customers get the best value from ProPlus and Windows 10 together, the following updates have been made to the ProPlus system requirements for Windows:

Delivering Office 365 ProPlus via Remote Desktop and Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) continues to be a key scenario for our customers. Microsoft is committed to enabling Office 365 Pro Plus in this scenario along with key Windows 10 experiences like Microsoft Edge, Store for Business, and Cortana. We will deliver these capabilities within the Semi-Annual Channel release cadence of Office, Windows 10, and Windows Virtual Desktop. See release cadence for these products in the chart below.

Note: If you use a Mac and require Microsoft Access, please note that there is no version of Access available that will run directly on macOS. Learners with Macs will need to use either Bootcamp (only available on Intel Macs) or some virtualization software (Parallels, WMVare Fusion, or VirtualBox, etc.) to install a copy of Windows (at extra cost and not provided by SC), and then install the Office suite from there. This method, however, is not fully supported by the SC Helpdesk as it does not have the resources to assist with a complicated setup process.

If you have any questions regarding system requirements or technical support issues not addressed on this page, please contact the SC Helpdesk at sc.he...@sckans.edu or view the technical support page.

The most recent minimum system requirements for Mac or any other operating system are available on this Microsoft support page. Click the link, scroll to "Microsoft 365 plans for business, education, and government,"and expand the grey bar below that title.

Using this option will change your password in Office365 and locally at UTMB, although there might be a slight delay before UTMB's network is synced. Note: you may need to go into application settings for apps installed directly on your Mac and update the password there.

The file management and sharing aspects of SharePoint will be available from a web browser. If you need to upload a file to the Collaboration folder and share it with someone, for example, you would just open a browser, sign into the SharePoint portal and follow the same process used on Windows.

It's important to note that Office documents created and/or stored in OneDrive or SharePoint will be treated like local documents by Office. For example, Word will ask where you want to create a new document, and if you choose OneDrive, Word will 'remember' that.

Mac users will have to access OneDrive through a web browser. Because Macs are not joined to the UTMB domain in the same way as Windows computers, the OneDrive application for MacOS will not connect and sync UTMB files or folders with SharePoint.

Like in Windows, you can open the hosted versions of Word, Excel, Powerpoint and other O365 applications from a MacOS web browser. You'll have the same features and functionality on the Mac as you would from a Windows computer.

There is a Microsoft Teams application for MacOS which works very well. Other O365 applications like Delve and Stream are available from office.com, but they are not part of this project, not even Teams. Moving data from iSpace and into SharePoint/OneDrive is our sole focus.

The NESDIS Office of Systems Architecture and Engineering (SAE) serves as the lead systems engineer and architect for NESDIS and the broader NOAA remote-sensing, data, products and services enterprise. In 2023, SAE was created from the reformulation of the Office of Systems Architecture and Advanced Planning (OSAAP) within a broader NESDIS reorganization to better focus resources on improving mission, execution, and operations.

NESDIS is transitioning the organization to apply enterprise approaches that enable provision of an enhanced portfolio of Earth and space environment observation products and services that address user needs. SAE is the lead program office charged with identifying and developing the enterprise system that will meet user needs by leveraging U.S. space-based operational environmental capabilities, the capabilities of our partners, and the commercial sector. NESDIS is moving from independent LEO and GEO satellite missions to a more agile Earth observation architecture based on enterprise-wide assessments of the mix of NOAA, partner, and commercial data sources that best support the NESDIS products and services.

IMPORTANT: PrizmDoc uses webfonts. We highly recommend that you do not disable the webfonts in your browser. If you disable webfonts (via browser or ad blocker settings), PrizmDoc will fall back to a compatibility mode which will result in much slower document rendering and scrolling (a warning will be sent to the browser console).

NOTE: Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0 must be installed and available before you run the installer. The Windows Service that starts PrizmDoc and the PrizmDoc Server are built targeting the .NET 4.0 Framework.

NOTE: In the case of Microsoft Office 2019 or 2021, the Windows Server 2019 or 2022 with Desktop Experience is required. In the case of Microsoft Office 2016, the Windows Server 2016 with Desktop Experience is required. Please refer to the Microsoft 365 and Office Resources for MS Office version-specific system requirements.

The following article is designed to be a resource to The University of Iowa community for information and instruction pertaining to compatibility and system requirements for Microsoft Office 2016.
