Dose anyone out there have a weight for an L600?  And, what kind of oil are you using in the pan under the deck?

Before I had access to the manual, I asked around for opinions. The
majority of opinions from people that use these types of machines a
lot recommended hydraulic oil in both the hydraulics and the chain
case. In fact, if you get any leaks in the lower end of the motor
drive system, the oil will end up in the chain case.

So far everything seems to work OK and the chains look good.

On the other hand, after about 2 years, I've managed to only put about
150 hours on my machine. If I used it in a business I may find my
lube system to fall short.

I’m in the process of fixing up an L600, new hydro hoses and seals, clean the chain bath out and reseal axles. I have some J20A hydro fluid I’m thinking about putting in the chain bath. Y’all think that should work out ok? I’ll end up getting AW 46 hydro oil for the hydro system. Thanks!

it'd be better than the 19 gallons of water and used engine oil that was in mine when i bought it.  Dont let it sit outside, keep it in the barn!....i think the specs are for 30w oil though, but i can't remember.   from a southern iowa perspective, it's oil.  i've seen similar setups call for 10w oil, and it should work just fine.  Ive also seen the cheap "old guys" use a gallon of diesel mixed with a few gallons of used 90W from semi axles (dont ask)...its Iowa engineering at its best.

Ya I know it’s supposed to be 30W but I’d have to go buy 5 gallons of that but I have 12-13 gallons of J20A that I don’t think I will use again so I might as well use it here! I kinda figure if it’s just for the chain, I’m putting grease zerks in the axle tubes so I can make sure the wheel bearings are properly lubed. Just trying to do the things right the first time so I don’t have to redo anything
