Hello All,

This group has been pretty quiet lately... Hopefully we'll liven it up a bit... First off I suppose is a brief introduction My name is Kurt (911lt1) and I've been a lurker here for a while...  I happened on a Rounder for sale while I was working on a previous orphan brand Skid Loader that I owned and was rebuilding. an Erickson CL-40 which became the Ford CL-40...  But that unit is down the road... It was just a little to big for my around the house use.   I liked the looks of the Rounders and kept my eyes open for one.  I made a deal on one last year and it was delivered to my house.  I wasn't looking for another project but I sure bought one.  Buyer beware i guess...  It ran when it arrived, but that's about it... She ground and popped in the chain case any time you tried to turn, the left side bucket tilt cylinder mount was broke in half, the right side main boom pivot point is cracked open and the best part is that it pukes a steady stream of oil out of the top of the chain case anytime you move it... So I'm sure a drive motor main shaft seal is blown...  Either that or I haven't found the switch to turn off the James Bond oil slick system... On quick inspection at least 70% of the hydraulic hoses need to be replaced as well...  Then the electrical system is basically a fire hazard involving butt splices, wire nuts and more electrical tape than actual wire insulation...  The original Onan engine has been replaced with a Kohler Command 18hp that needs a carb rebuild but seems to run fine once you coax it to life...

So I bought a project..  A big money sucking project.  I didn't touch it for almost a year do to other more pressing projects.  But now I'd like to bring her to life for the snow season this year... (And prove my wife wrong that I'm not a complete sucker)...  I was originally only going to fix what absolutely needed fixing to get it to work, but I've pretty much resigned myself that this is going to be a complete overhaul.  So I've torn into it and I'll hopefully have her disassembled by the end of the week.  I'll take lots of pictures and post them on the site somehow.

I'll also start out by thanking group member "Texacoon" for his contributions to the group.  He's pretty much inspired me to tackle this job based on his nice write up of his driveline project.

Well enough typing and out to the garage to get dirty..

Kurt

Welcome Kurt!  It is a worth wile project and you will have a useful machine when completed.  Texacoon's detailed pic's and descriptions were a big help to me when i rebuilt mine last winter.  I had intended to take pics and do a detailed write up on my project but, the snow started and never really stopped so getting it completed became more of a priority than documenting it.
good luck and let us know how it is progressing!
