I think this is the same as a Rounder L-700 but not sure. I cant find much info out there on it. Is there any way to adjust the chain tension other than taking links out of the chain? I haven't torn it apart yet but would like to have what I need on hand when I do. Also any service manuals out there for download? Thanks

Todd,  I will be uploading my father's Rounder manuals etc. to Scott's (SWR - group owner) shared Google Drive soon. The 42" wide 600 and 700 are identical except the 700 has the 3rd pedal for the bucket accessory and a larger 18hp engine (600=16hp). The lift capacity for a L600 is 600 lbs., however the lift capacity for a L700 is only 650lbs.  I'll email you the 700 files I have. If you have an Onan engine or Predator engine let me know. I've got some of those manuals too.

As far as I can tell, the chain tension is set based on where the motor mount plates are welded and there is no further adjustment possible afterward.  As I replaced those plates on my L600 I had this opportunity.  Your best bet would probably be to replace the chains if they are worn/stretched.

Thanks for the info. Mine has the Linamar LX 790. I assume it was replaced and one time. From what I understand it Is the same as an Onan 20hp. I have one axle seal leaking and figured I would address the chain while I was in there.

If you read the older posts, it is mentioned that the axel seals are not designed to be submersed in oil, or water like a lot of have found in the chain case. Keep the chain case at 2" with 30 weight oil (unless you are an old Iowa farmer, then use filtered what ever is available - again as mentioned in prior posts). I doubt you have to replace the seal. My dad also had a leaking seal. It sat outdoors for 25 years before he started returning it to operational status. The chain bath was full of water - no oil. After draining and adding used 30 weight, the seal has not leaked in the last 3 years. For all machines housed outdoors, I'd recommend draining the water out of the chain case at least once a year.

Erik - nice picture.  The old maintenance mechanics always told me Chain is Cheap! They were correct. Always buy sprockets with hardened teeth, and replace chain when stretched. The chain should be the weak link in the system.  Todd - I do not have any Onan 20hp manuals for you.  I did not know that Linamar was an Onan. A quick internet search finds "The <Onan> Performer engine line was picked up by Linamar Engines from Canada. Linamar could not meet emissions requirements, hence they discontinued production."  Onan parts are difficult to find. Always check the oil before running and be prepared to repower the Rounder some day.
